Creative Spark. New opportunities and prospects

In 2018, the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism became one of the holders of the Creative Spark Higher Enterprise program, which was attended by 24 universities of Uzbekistan. This project is designed for 5 years. During the first two years, students and faculty of the University actively participated not only in seminars and lectures that combined theory and practice that contribute to the development of competencies in the field of HR, Marketing, Finance, Production and Management, but also participated in the Big Idea Challenge. This competition is held annually for students of Uzbekistan in various directions.

During the 2019-2020 academic year, within the framework of the Creative Spark project, the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism operated the English Club, which is coordinated by Umida Abduvakhobova. As a result of this project, the University was provided with about 90 books with CD-ROMs by Macmillan and Pearson publishers. It is noteworthy that one part of these books is fiction, and the other part is books of various fields of study: Business English, Intelligent English, English in Marketing and Management. The books were presented to Alisher Kamilov, coordinator of the Creative Spark project and acting Head of International Development Department, during his official visit to Tashkent.

We would also like to note that the negotiations between the project coordinator A. Kamilov and the Dean of Queen Margaret University Mark Robertson resulted in the approval of the opening of the joint project "Business Incubation", where business trainings will be organized for University students, as well as for representatives of small and medium-sized businesses in the tourism sector. As part of the project, it was also agreed that at the beginning of the 2020/2021 academic year, University teachers will have the opportunity to complete an internship at Queen Margaret University (Scotland).

We are pleased to announce that this year, among the 13 participating universities in Uzbekistan, only the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism was awarded the opportunity to continue participating in the Creative Spark project.
