The Silk Road University is one step ahead!

Not much time has passed since the establishment of the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism. However, over the past three years, the university has made significant innovations and made great strides in the education system.

In order to accelerate the process of internationalization and increase attention to students, starting from January 2021, for the first time among the universities of Uzbekistan at the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism, extensive opportunities will be created for students to work within the university (“part-time on-campus job”).

It should be recognized that students should use their years of study solely to gain knowledge. But, most of today’s students are looking for ways to earn money. Some of them do not have the opportunity to pay for their studies, while others seek to earn money on their own.

However, students’ job search opportunities are limited as most of them have no work experience. On the other hand, the time students can devote to work is also limited. Based on the Labor Code of our republic, students have the opportunity to work no more than 20 hours a week, in their free time from studies. But in an era of rapid development of technology and technological progress, even such a limited amount of time is enough for students to express themselves fully.

In the context of the coronavirus pandemic, the purpose of conducting such an experience, which is being successfully promoted in universities in developed countries, is one: taking care of students and providing all the conditions for them to get the necessary experience during their student days.

1. Ойлик маош олиш имконияти;

2. Тажриба орттириш;

Debates before the presidential elections

For the sake of transparency of the elections to the President of the Student Parliament of the University, debates were held, which allowed all students there to get to know each candidate better.

So, on December 18th at the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism held a face-to-face round of debates among candidates for the President of the Student Parliament. In total, the election commission of the university registered 4 candidates for the post of President. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the fourth candidate, Shodiyor Amirullaev, could not take part in the debate. The commission decided to withdraw his candidacy in the presidential election race of the Student Parliament.

It should be noted that these were not entirely classical debates, but rather meetings at which the candidates told about themselves, introduced their program to the public and discussed student problems. Thanks to this format, candidates feel responsible to the voters, who, in turn, learn about the candidates’ plans. The idea of holding a debate is aimed at making students firmly decide who to vote for.

The candidates are also confident that the debates, if taken seriously, can become the locomotive of their future actions in the presidential activities. Debates will help not only to master important skills – argumentation, critical thinking, rhetorical techniques, but also to set strategy priorities during the presidency of the Student Parliament.

“Today’s debates have taken the form of an intellectual game that trains analytical thinking, argumentation skills and public speaking. In the debates, the candidates were provided with all the conditions to defend their position, as well as voters – to determine their choice”, –

said Umid Tuygunov, Head of the Youth Policy Department and Chairman of the Commission for Presidential Elections of the Student Parliament.

Tourism leads towards dreams

An important event of the past week was the election of Saidov Abdullo, a student of the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism the Ambassador of Tourism of the Bukhara region in the framework of the "First International Youth Tourism Forum" held in Bukhara city.

We have many self-motivated, purposeful, talented students. But the most distinguished of them is Saidov Abdullo, a third-year student of the Faculty of “Tourism Management”. He received the position of the Ambassador of Tourism of the Bukhara region for his contribution to the scientific potential of the university and active participation in public life.

The achievements of our talented student deserve recognition and praise. It is worth noting his active participation in international conferences and seminars held in Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara, where he delivered effective and constructive reports. He also demonstrated his initiative and activity at the “Yoshlar ovozi” (“Voice of youth”) republican summit.

In 2019 year, after passing a careful selection among university students, he trained for two weeks in Indonesia, where he also participated in an international conference. More than a dozen articles by Saidov Abdullo have been published in collections of international conferences, on scientific websites and in other publications. He is also the author of a number of projects organized and implemented at the university.

The election of Abdullo Saidov as ambassador of tourism reflects his position in life, goals and dreams. After all, its main goal is to reveal and present the tourism potential of Uzbekistan to the whole world and make it one of the most popular tourist destinations.

We wish our talented student great success, achievements in further studies and life!
