The 1st extended meeting of the "Languages" department of the "Tourism Management" faculty of  "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage was held. Completed research works of 2 independent researchers conducting scientific activities, in the field of 10.00.06 - comparative literature, linguistics and translation studies, were discussed at the meeting.

In the discussion the dissertations and abstracts prepared for the doctoral degree (PhD): "Ideological and Artistic Images in the Works of Edgar Allan Poe and Methods of their Reconstruction in Translation" by Akramova Tahmina Kamiljonovna and "Pragmatic and Stylistic Means of Image of Human Wealth in the Originals and Translations of Works Herbert E. Bates" by Abduvakhabova Umeda Mamatyusufovna were reviewed by professors and lecturers.

According to the decision of the meeting, the thesis and dissertation abstracts of T.K.Akramova and U.M.Abduvaxabova were evaluated as a research papers written responding to the latest requirements of the Supreme Attestation Commission of Republic of Uzbekistan and were recommended for the research seminar at the Academic Council under the number of PhD.03/30.12.2019.Phil/Ped.83.01 at Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages.

On October 25, 2022, for the first time in Samarkand's history, Silk Road International Tourism and Heritage University hosted a women's lacrosse practice! American teaching assistant Chanel Nassir, who works in the Languages Department, taught students how to catch, throw, and hold the ball in the stick. This is just the beginning of the development of an interesting American sport in Uzbekistan!

As part of the "Green Space" national project in Uzbekistan, it was announced that the "Vital 40-day" events will begin on October 20, 2022.

‘Students of the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage - for green space!’campaign was launched at the initiative of the Department for "Work with mahallahs, youth and organization of events.

In order to support the "International Year of Mountain Sustainable Development" announced by the United Nations General Assembly in 2021, the UN International Decade for Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030) and to preserve the unique nature of mountains, about 180 pistachio seedlings were planted in Ohalik district  of Samarkand region by  Local students of university and foreign graduate students from Italy, Tajikistan, India, Iran, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan Bangladesh, Belarus, Tajikistan, Malaysia, and Russia as well as the participation of the Department for ‘Work with mahallahs, youth and organization of events’ of "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage with Community Ecology Association and initiative groups of citizens and organizations of Central Asian countries.

One of the main goals of the campaign is to protect nature and inculcate the concept of eco-culture in our youth.

"We are against violence"

It is known that in recent years, a lot of attention has been paid to gender equality and gender issues in Uzbekistan. In particular, on August 17, 2019, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Protection of Women from Harassment and Violence" was adopted. In our country, measures are being implemented in the relevant sectors according to the tasks defined by this law.

On October 27 of this year, the next meeting of the Women's Advisory Council on the topic "We are against violence" was organized in an unconventional way at the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. The meeting opened with the speech of M. Abbasova, the chairperson of the Women's Council of the University, about "We support the protection of women from oppression and violence." It provided statistical information on gender issues in our country, gave a comprehensive and well-reasoned approach to the causes of family violence, the global basis of attention to gender issues.

A. Izbasarova, the leading specialist of the University Information Resource Center, spoke about the laws aimed at protecting women, which are set in the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan and are stored in the library fund. They focused on the forms of violence and approached them comprehensively. She also presented several films with a moral and spiritual impact.

The dean of the Faculty of "Tourism Management" R.Toshniyozova also gave a speech and spoke about creating a solid basis for protecting women from oppression and violence and the urgent tasks facing the higher education system in this way, cooperation with law enforcement agencies, family relations, the role of women in ensuring the stability of the socio-spiritual environment in educational institutions, the culture of dressing students, and social issues.

D. Turdiyeva, a university psychologist, spoke about the psychological aspects of violence and revealed how it has a great impact on the spiritual, physical and mental image of a person. She also informed that a psychological service has been established at the university and said that she will always support female students.

Scientific and practical conference

The international scientific and practical conference on the theme "Innovative management in ensuring socio-economic stability: problems and solutions" will be held on November 11 at the Tashkent Financial Institute, and on November 4 at the international center for strategic developments and research in the field of food and agriculture‌‌ will hold a conference "Development Prospects  agroclusters: achievements, problems and strategic directions”;  On February 9, the Alisher Navoi International Public Foundation will hold an international symposium on the topic "Navoi and the Renaissance of the East".

"Independence in My Destiny"

Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage organized an educational meeting and roundtables among young faculty, staff, and students of the university on the theme "Independence in My Destiny". The task of organizing educational meetings and roundtables among the advanced youth and students effectively working today in the fields of education, science, sports, art, creativity, entrepreneurship, and others under the slogan "Independence is my destiny" has been defined. An event was organized at Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage on October 20 of this year to ensure the realization of these objectives. At the ceremony, the First Vice Rector of the university, Professor Eltazarov Djuliboy Danaboyevich began his speech by emphasizing that Independence is a great blessing, which has been the eternal dream of our people, through the independence we have gained our will, our faith, and our strong path of development. He noted that the past 31 years of our independence have been a period of sweeping reforms, encompassing all areas of our society.

Also, the event was attended by Isometdinov Islam Fozilovich, the winner of the World Armwrestling Championship in 2018, a two-time champion of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2018-2020’s, the winner of the Asian Championship in 2016, the Master of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan 2018 in arm-wrestling, the Master of Sports 2018 in arm-wrestling of international class. Isometdinov Islam shared his success stories about his achievements with the students, and said how proud he is of our independent country, emphasizing that independence is a great blessing due to which we have our will, our faith, and our strong path of development. He noted that the past 31 years of our independence has been a period of wide-ranging reforms covering all areas of our society, and our paradise country Uzbekistan has become one of the most productive countries in the world

At the meeting, the sportsman gave some information to the students about how one should train every day, about the psychological state of athletes before a competition, a proper nutrition; also he explained the difference between amateur and professional athletes, and gave some recommendations.
