On 14 March of this year, a seminar was held at the lecture hall of "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. At the seminar, Dr. Su Mingming, Associate Professor of School of Environmental Sciences of Remin University, presented an online lecture on "Heritage Tourism and Community Development". The seminar, which was attended by tourism and cultural heritage professionals, teachers and students, was led by the university's Vice-Rector, Professor Tony Zou.

At the seminar, Dr. Su Mingming, Professor of School of Environmental Sciences of Remin University, made a presentation on "Heritage Tourism and Community Development - Examples from China".

In her presentation, Dr. Su Mingming discussed the definition and classification of cultural heritage, giving examples of UNESCO-listed cultural heritage sites around the world for the development of cultural heritage tourism. In particular, the active involvement of cultural heritage and the public in China was emphasised. Dr. Su Mingming's bright and detailed presentation made a great impression on the lecturers and students.

After the lecture, Dr. Su Mingming answered the questions of the lecturers and students.

In connection with this day, a national action was held in all state organisations of our country, according to which it was established to disconnect for an hour from electricity, computer equipment, refrigerating and heating equipment and other means of electricity use, to walk for an hour in the street for students studying in higher educational institutions.

Such an action was also held at "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. As part of the action, the university building was disconnected from the power grid from 14:00 to 15:00, and the university's faculty, staff and students were engaged in sports such as chess, badminton, table tennis and drawing, interesting conversations and walking for an hour.

HAPPY NAVRUZ HOLIDAY!

Today, the eastern festive mood of the New Year - Navruz spreads throughout our country, especially in the ancient and eternally young Samarkand.
         I congratulate all professors and teachers, staff and students of our university on the spring holiday Navruz, which embodies such traditions and values.
         After winter days, pleasant spring air and waking mother nature give a special mood to the human soul. We always wait Navruz with impatience.
         It is not for nothing that this holiday in the city and in the countryside is met with folk festivals and various national games, as well as national dishes. After all, each of us lives with a sense of pride in our values, our nationality and our traditions.
         Today, cultural heritage tourism has flourished widely in our country. Training a qualified specialist in this field and education of qualified personnel of the cultural heritage sphere is one of the main tasks of our young university. Wishing everyone good luck in this good thing, I once again congratulate you on the Navruz holiday.

These days, celebrating the Navruz holiday, on 19 March, "National Costume Day" action was held at "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.

 From early morning, the teachers, administration and students of the university dressed in national costumes, which are an integral part of the culture of any nation. National costumes are an example of the values and customs of our people.

Over the years, unique national costumes of our people with a long history have been formed. Our national costumes showcase not only the splendour of our nation, but also our spiritual ideologies and the place we occupy in the world.

The purpose of this event is to preserve and widely popularise our national costumes, which today are experiencing a long history, telling about the ideology and worldview of our ancestors.

Navruz is a celebration of charity

Navruz is a holiday of kindness, which reflects our national traditions. On the occasion of the holiday, fourth year students of our university visited elderly grandparents of one of the nursing homes!

-Our goal will be achieved if our event, which spreads love, has at least lifted the spirits of our grandparents a little," said the students of our university.

HAPPY NAVRUZ HOLIDAY!

These days there is a festive mood all over the country, Navruz is one of the national holidays of our people. These festive events associated with the coming of spring and embodying the traditions of our people were widely celebrated in the Central Park of Samarkand city.

During the festive events, in which all the enterprises and organisations of our city, higher educational institutions took part, the staff of our university also took an active part, also did not miss the opportunity to be active and celebrated Navruz in good mood.

On the territory given to our university in the Central Park, all necessary things were organised, under the leadership of the university the table was decorated and our various national dishes were served to it. Firstly, at the festive event, the First Vice-Rector of our university, Professor Dilmurod Nasimov, expressed his sincere wishes, heartily congratulating everyone on this national holiday. After that, on the one side tug-of-war of national sports games, wrestling competitions were organised, and on the other side musical events under the title "Happy Navruz Holiday!" were held.

National music, dances of students of our university, such countries as China, Korea, Turkey were presented at the festive events. Such a national performance of our university attracted the attention of everyone in the central park. The festive events are continuing.

On 20 March 2024, "Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage" will host a painting competition on the theme of "Painting Works" among students.

If you have painting abilities and would like to participate in this competition with your artwork, samples of the best creations will be exhibited in the painting gallery in our university building.

Recently, during a visit to the UK, a delegation of students led by a lecturer of the Department of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, they learnt about the conditions and opportunities created for students at leading universities.

Firstly, the members of the delegation, consisting of teachers and students of our university, were met by Oxford Brookes PhD student Sanjar Djumanazarov. Sanjar organised a tour of the campus for them and introduced them to the education system, telling them about the activities of the university. This was followed by meaningful talks on further strengthening potential co-operation between "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage and Oxford Brookes University.

During the interview, he talked about future academic exchange programmes and joint research initiatives. In addition, representatives of our university visited the world-famous Oxford University and the Bodleian Library.

Such a hands-on visit is not only an introduction to Oxford and Oxford Brookes universities, but also an important factor for significantly enhancing the educational experience of our students and further improving co-operation.

At this point, the members of the delegation expressed their gratitude to Sanjar Djumanazarov for his sincere hospitality and to the officials of Oxford Brookes and Oxford University for their warm welcome.

As previously reported, according to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan № 137-D of 6 March 2024, on 16-18 March of this year was organised a nationwide charitable khashar under the slogan "A well-maintained and prosperous mahalla is the decoration of the country", according to which the khashar was held with the participation of staff of "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. Fruit and ornamental trees were planted and trees were shaped. Flowers of different varieties were planted and the surrounding green area was cleaned up. On the second day of khashar, classrooms, doors and windows in the university building were completely cleaned of dust and rubbish. The staff also managed to tidy up the library, National Costume Gallery. On the third day of khashar, trees were whitewashed and rubbish heaps were removed from the corners of the canal located near the university. In general, all the employees of our university participated in this nationwide charitable khashar.
