One of the 5 important initiatives put forward by our president to raise the morale of young people and organize their free time with benefit - a number of activities aimed at popularizing reading among young people are carried out at “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.
On December 13 of the current year tutor S.Abbasova held an event “Culture of reading” for 2nd year students of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Samarkand regional information and library center named after Pushkin.
At the event “Reading” tutor S.Abbasova gave young students a number of notions about reading culture.
On December 4 of this year, a seminar on “Application of Experimental Design and Big Data in Tourism Research” was held. Tony Zou, Vice Rector for Research, Innovation and Commercialization of our university, participated in it at an international research conference.

On December 12, 2023 together with the Women’s Council of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage and the Department of work with youth and organization of events, they gave the necessary recommendations to tutors and relevant responsible for monitoring the safe arrival of students and girls with social protection and disabilities to their places of permanent residence during the winter vacations.
Currently, there is active support in buying tickets for high-speed trains, planes, buses and cars (taxi) from the modes of transportation to get to the destination, as well as in buying tickets (booking).
On December 13 of this year tutor S.Abbasova organized an excursion for the second year students of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage to the scientific and practical museum-laboratory of Samarkand State University. The museum, located on the university boulevard of the city, in a row of buildings of the higher educational institution, is distinguished, first of all, by its unique architecture.
The University has been named after Alisher Navoi for many years, moreover, the major part of the museum-laboratory is devoted to popularization of our great-grandfather's heritage in order to inform the youth about the results of scientific researches of linguists and literary scholars on the life and works of the great thinker, periods of his studies in Samarkand. In such sections as “Life path of the great poet”, “Navoi and Samarkand”, “Alisher Navoi in the recognition of the world”, “Navoi scholars”, “Navoi’s literary heritage”, valuable information about our great ancestor, about the work done to study his heritage is collected. In the center of the expositions there is a statue of the poet made by Tulagan Yorkulov, a sculptor from Samarkand. The excursion made a deep impression on the students.
On December 13 of this year, Sh.Nurmamatov and M.Khudojberdiev, heads of departments of the Department of Migration and Citizenship Registration of the Department of Internal Affairs of the region, held a meeting with foreign students, masters and teachers who are studying at our university. The first vice-rector of the university, Professor J.Eltazarov participated in the meeting. It was noted that as of today there are 3 thousand foreign students studying in the operating universities of Samarkand region. They are provided with all necessary conditions and opportunities for living and studying in Uzbekistan. In particular, 65 foreign students are studying at our university.
Of course, in order for a foreign citizen to stay in our country, study and live, the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan will prescribe clear rules that every foreigner will have to observe. It was also mentioned at the event that students who do not follow these rules face a problem. The employees of the Migration Department gave detailed explanations on the issues of studying, living and working of foreign students within the framework of our law in our country. During the interaction, the students got answers to all their questions. Passports were handed over to three foreign students who were listed at the event.
Head of the Department of Tourism Management Akmaljon Odilov, took part in the international conference IMPACT2023, held on December 7-8 of this year at the Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Representatives from more than 20 countries participated in the conference and spoke about the prospects for tourism development after COVID-19.
A.Odilov made a presentation to the participants on the topic “Uzbekistan - the hub of tourism and hotel industry in Central Asia.” Participants welcomed the opening of the World Tourism Organization Academy, which opened in the city of Samarkand.
On November 25, 2023, at the Scientific Council number DSc.33/01.02.2022.I.145.01 of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, an independent researcher of the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service Samiev Siroj Saitovich defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in economic sciences on the topic “Improving the organizational and economic mechanisms for the development of business tourism in the regions (on the example of the Samarkand region)” with a specialization 00.08.17 – “Tourism and hotel activities” (economic sciences The results of the researcher's dissertation, scientific novelty, methods developed by the author and their role in the development of the tourism industry is analyzed.
On December 7 of this year, the International Association of Tourism Cooperation of the Russian Federation “World without Borders”, the Association of Chinese Tourism Services of the PRC and “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage held a conference in the form of a hybrid on the theme “Opportunities for expanding the geography of cross-border tourism”. A number of teachers of our university took part in this conference. Sardorbek Samaridinov, Head of International Cooperation and Rating Department of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, delivered a report on “The role of education in the development of tourism potential of Uzbekistan” at the conference. In his speech, Sardorbek Samaridinov talked about the fact that today in Uzbekistan there are new aspects in the tourism sector, particularly in Samarkand.
Today our state pays special attention to the issues of supporting youth, helping them to get a profession, solving their problems, and a lot of practical work is being done in this direction.
On December 4, 2023, headed by the first vice-rector Professor J. Eltazarov, the staff of the university of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, visited the apartment of Hodjaev Mumin Sadigovich, a citizen living in the mahalla “Kushchinor” of Samarkand city, with the purpose of support, education, education, those in need of social protection, training, internship and employment.
In order to promote healthy lifestyle among students and further development of mass sports on the day of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan were organized sports competitions “Rector’s Cup” under the slogan “My Constitution is 31 years old”.
The sports event under the slogan “My Constitution is 31 years old” was held from December 1 to 7 and included team competitions in chess, table tennis, swimming and soccer. Z. Kafiev, deputy chairman of the University Sports Club for the competitions, and others acted as judges.
At the end of the competition the winners were awarded with diplomas and souvenirs.
