On 15 November of this year, a rector’s hour was held at “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. The rector of the university A.Abdukhakimov held it in English. University vice-rectors, heads of university departments, heads of departments, professors and teachers attended the meeting. As it is known, today tourism industry in our country has reached a new level. In training qualified specialists in this field, our university is entrusted with a huge number of duties and tasks. In this regard, the rector of our university A.Abdukhakimov said that our professors and teachers should carry out activities using their high pedagogical skills in teaching students. It was also said that the activity of the Academy of Tourism should be raised to a new level. On this occasion, the lecturer of Department of “Tourism Management” of our university Artem Klikov made a presentation. In the past presentation in English language were expressed analytical opinions about the activities of the Academy of Tourism, laboratories, libraries on gastronomic tourism, created for its students, the process of classes, gave detailed answers to questions.  Also, Vice-Rector of our university J.Hoffman and other lecturers expressed their opinions on the results of the rector’s hour.

Mutual trust and cooperation are strengthened

On 15 November of this year the delegation headed by Du Zhanyuan, Head of Foreign Language Publishing and Distribution Department of the People’s Republic of China, visited our university. Rector of our university A.Abdukhakimov welcomed the guests. It was noted that today co-operation between Uzbekistan and China is strengthening day by day. In this regard, our university has also established cooperation with a number of higher education institutions in China. Also during the dialogue, Du Zhanyuan, head of the Publishing Department of the People’s Republic of China, expressed warm feelings about “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage and educational processes in it, noting that both sides are interested in further strengthening cooperation. During the visit, the guests presented a collection of books to the library of the university, as well as had a closer look at the activities of the National Costume Gallery and the tourism laboratory set up for students.

rTo the attention of researchers who have applied to study at higher education institutes at “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage for the 2024 academic year. On November 23 of this year at 02:30 p.m, entrance exams will be conducted for independent researchers, doctorate (PhD) applicants as well as postdoctoral (PhD) applicants.

Examinations for admission to basic doctorate studies (PhD) and interviews for admission to independent researchers are conducted by “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.

*The entrance examinations for applicants who have submitted documents for admission to postgraduate programs at Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage are conducted based on the examination programs of specialized subjects (examination programs are provided for each specialization).

Sanjar Jumanazarov, a researcher of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage based on the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) project on the basis of a grant in PhD programme “Eastern Cooperation” for 2 months did his scientific research in the German University of Applied Sciences Konstanz. During the period of research Sanjar Jumanazarov took part on October 6 in online in international scientific-practical conference, organised jointly by the University of Applied Sciences of Konstanz and Tashkent State Economic University. During the conference, scientists of Uzbekistan and German institutes exchanged views and discussed the prospects of tourism development between the two countries.

In addition, a researcher of our university, who was invited as a guest lecturer to Professor Timm’s class of the University of Applied Sciences of Konstanz, delivered a lecture “On mobility in Uzbekistan”. During his lecture Sanjar Jumanazarov told foreign students about the state of transport and mobility in Uzbekistan, problems in its development, innovations introduced in this sphere and prospects for the future.

We believe that SanJar Jumanazarov’s research will provide results in increasing the potential of scientific personnel in the development of the tourism industry of our country in the future! May the success continue for a long time!

On 15 November of this year, Rector of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage A. Abdukhakimov introduced to the staff Inoyatov Jurakul Bahriddinovich, appointed to the post of Director of Samarkand Technical College of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. While introducing the new director to the staff, the rector of our university mentioned the tasks to be solved today in the system of professional education in training a specialist in the field of tourism and cultural heritage. As it is known, this year the technical equipment of Samarkand Institute of Tourism and Cultural Heritage was completely overhauled, which received a new look, as well as strengthened the material and technical base in training qualified specialists in this system. Now it will be necessary to maximise the use of the created conditions and opportunities. Also, the rector of our university familiarised with the dormitory for students under construction on the territory of the technical school.

A seminar held on the dissertation work

On November 15, a scientific seminar was conducted on the topic “Improving the mechanism for managing sustainable tourism in the region (using the example of the Samarkand region)” within the specialties 08.00.17 – “Tourism and hotel activities” and 08.00.13 – “Management”. The event was organized by Nilufar Rahimova, a PhD student at Westminster International University in Tashkent, with the support of the “Scientific Research Department” of our university, aiming to obtain a PhD degree.

On November of this year, Mohammad Shahparan, a lecturer of the Department of “Tourism Management” of our university, and the students of group 122 of the second year of the subject “Air Transport Management” visited Samarkand International Airport in order to familiarise with the marketing strategy of the airline, passenger rest areas, duty free shop, customs, immigration and other such practical processes of observation. The intended aim is to familiarise our student youth with the practice of hospitality in tourism, providing high level services and also to enhance their skills.

Sport is a key to health

On 14th November 2023, student volunteers of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage took part in volleyball sports games as part of the event “We, the youth, against drugs” and promoted a healthy lifestyle!

As part of this sporting event, our youth students played a friendly match, demonstrating their volleyball skills. Such sporting events further increase the interest of our student youth in sports and healthy lifestyle. At the moment we encourage all our students to actively participate in sports events and lead a healthy lifestyle!

Within the framework of the held in our university a number of events were held, in which more than 50 students were involved.

The teacher of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Turdieva Nargiza Mardonovna (PhD. acting assistant professor) published a monograph on the theme “Development of communication skills of students in the field of tourism through the use of project technologies”.

Communication skills are an integral part of the future specialist in tourism. This book reveals methods, ways of developing students’ communicative skills through the use of project technologies.  The monograph is of topical importance, as the integration of the components “Tourism and communicativeness” is an innovative approach that can bring qualitative transformations in teaching methodology.
