On 16 January of this year, a group of students of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage organised a practical trip to Kashkadarya region in order to get acquainted with the cultural and historical heritage of our country.

During the trip, which started in Shakhrisabz of Kashkadarya region, our students had an opportunity to get acquainted with the White Palace, Chubin Museum, Jahangir Mausoleum, “Blue Cupola” complexes.

Khoja Ilgor is a village in Yakkabag district of Kashkadarya province. Amir Timur, the founder of the Timurid kingdom, grew up on this land, which has a history of several hundred years. Here is the mausoleum of Khoja Muhammad ibn al-Qasim, who died in 711 AD and was known to the people as Khoja Ilgor. During archaeological excavations on the territory of the village, the remains of an ancient fortress with an area of six hectares were discovered, as well as various stones, fragments of pottery, the foundation of a mosque of the 7th century of captivity and mulberry trees. Interestingly, a 100kg stone, which our grandfather trained as a young man, has been preserved here.

Importantly, our students returned from this pilgrimage very impressed. Student excursions to historical sites are organised throughout the year.
