On 13 January of this year, employees of the Marketing and Recruitment Department of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage visited IDUM 1 and 63 general secondary schools managed by Samarkand City Department of Preschool and School Education. The purpose of the visit was to further increase the interest of today's youth in higher education and, at the same time, to widely promote the educational work at our university. The staff of the department met mainly with graduates of general education schools. Heads of general education schools, teachers and students took part in the events. Head of Marketing and Recruitment Department Otabek Akbarov said that today there are many higher educational institutions in our country, especially in Samarkand, but the tourism sphere is in demand at the moment, so “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage is the most suitable place to study. The graduates also did not hide their interests and got answers to many of their questions.

These days, in order to spread among the people a wide range of reforms and achievements carried out in the new Uzbekistan throughout the country, the teaching staff of the university holds a number of events, meetings with the population and round tables in the mahallas and villages of the Taylak district.
On January 12 of this year, teachers of “Languages” Department of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Munira Baymatova and Timur Abdulloev held a meeting with citizens of the mahalla “Navzandak” of the Taylak district to clearly demonstrate the practical work carried out by the president in subsequent years and emphasize that every citizen contributes to these processes.

At the agitation event, the citizens of the mahalla were told about the work under the auspices of “For a new life, for a new Uzbekistan!” carried out in Samarkand, in particular, in the Taylak district, under the motto “Mahallada duv-duv gap”.

The event was attended by the head of the district division of the Republican center for Spirituality and Enlightenment Avazov Z., chairman of the “Navzandak” mahalla citizens’ assembly Khamidov F., inspector, imam of the Jome mosque and director of school No. 27 Jurakulova.M, mahalla activists who expressed their opinion on the topic. The teachers of our university organized a quiz on various interesting topics for the participants of the event, and the winners were awarded books by different authors.

Duties of a Chief anti-corruption specialist:

-Knowledge of regulatory legal documents in the field, the main goal of the chief specialist of the anti-corruption department in the organization as well as the implementation and development of a comprehensive system that meets the requirements of the ISO37001:2016 international standard for combating corruption in its regional and structural divisions, in particular, the anti-corruption system

-early identification of corrupt situations and elimination of their causes and conditions,

-prevention of corrupt behavior, raising legal awareness and culture of employees of the organization system in order to form an intolerant attitude towards corruption,

-organizing preventive measures against corruption in the organization system,

-ensuring the execution of documents in the field of combating corruption.

The instructions given under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the meeting of the Council of Spirituality and Education of the Republic held on  December 22, 2023, as well as the large-scale reforms carried out by the letter of instruction of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated on  December 28th 2023 to create a new Uzbekistan, also, to raise the spirits and increase the vital immunity of the people, on  January 10th of this year, the teachers of the Department of “Languages” of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, Obidjon Nabiyev and Zahid Bektemirov, met with residents of the Yastepa mahalla in Taylak district and gave a speech at a propaganda event “For a new life, for a new Uzbekistan!” under the slogan “Mahallada duv-duv gap”.

The head of the district of the National Center for Spirituality and Education, the chairman of the Yastepa Mahalla citizens’ assembly, a prevention inspector, the imam of the Jome mosque, and the school principal took part in the campaign event and expressed their views on the large-scale reforms underway and the successes achieved on the road to creating a new Uzbekistan.

As part of the event, Nabiyev Obidjon organised a quiz aimed at improving the political literacy of young people, and the most active ones were presented with books.

Defence of the homeland is a sacred duty

On 12 January this year, in order to ensure the implementation of the order of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 14 December 2023 № F-79 “On measures to prepare and conduct the celebration of the 32nd anniversary of the formation of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Day of Defenders of the Motherland”, the team of the university took part in the festive event.

The first vice-rector of our university J.Eltazarov made a report on the work carried out today in the defence system of our state, on reforms in this area and congratulated the teachers and staff of men working at the university on this holiday. Then a video about brave sons, selflessly protecting the peace of the borders of our country, was shown. After that, N.Abduvokhidova, the head of the department of work with youth and organisation of events, and M.Abbasova, the chairwoman of the women’s committee, noted that systematic work is carried out in our country to protect the Motherland, as a result of which our country is peaceful and our sky is clear. On the occasion of the event, the women of our university presented souvenirs to them, congratulating the teachers and staff of all men on the holiday. At the festive event dedicated to the Day of Defender of the Fatherland on 14 January, poems were read and songs were sung.

     The fund of Information and Resource Centre of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage has 27202 copies of literature in the form of books named 13822.
     Out of them 4801 copies of literature in Uzbek language, 3680 copies in Russian language, 10 749 copies in English language and 5141 copies in other languages.
     24,371 copies of printed literature by form, 911 copies of electronic literature, 17 copies in Braille, 58 copies in audio, 1,039 copies of educational literature by collection, 1,814 copies of scientific literature, 1,793 copies of fiction, 1,354 copies of foreign literature and 371 copies of other literature. This literature shows that the university is fully provided with educational literature on language teaching in all educational directions and specialities.
     Last year, on the initiative and under the leadership of our honourable rector Aziz Abduhakimov, the library, which is the treasury of the university, received books in such areas as tourism, art, history, archaeology, ethnology, geopolitics, economics, culturology, religious studies, design, sculpture, architecture, and cultural heritage in a short period of time.
     On 6 March 2023, the new collection of books and journals was handed over to the library of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage by the Head of the Department for Cooperation with South Asia, Near and Middle East and Africa.

     On 12 March, a delegation of the Republic of Bulgaria handed over books on tourism and cultural heritage sector of Bulgaria to the library of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.
     On 30 March, during a visit to the university by the Rector of the Tashkent State Law University, Islombek Rustambekov, he handed over his books on copyright and judicial law to the library.
     On 28 May, Mrs Zang Hongyan (Uzbekistan), chairman of Silk Road Publishing House, Beijing Silk Road Culture Development Co.Ltd (China) visited Silk Road University. The chairperson presented our university with several books on Silk Road culture published by Zang.
     On July 9, M. Baimatova, lecturer of the Department of Languages, presented our library with 548 textbooks in Korean language from the “Educational Centre” organised under the Embassy of South Korea in Uzbekistan.
     On 18 September, a collection of books consisting of 9 volumes of rare manuscript copies issued by the Party Committee of Shandong Province of the Chinese State to Samarkand Regional Administration was handed over to the library of our university.
The information and resource centre of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage has a database of e-books providing electronic automated and remote access, and the Unilibrary.uz platform https://unilibrary.uz/ is available.
     This platform is located at the entrance to the library (reception) and is included in the table-shaped tablet. This programme includes 186,974 pieces of literature, 26,078 articles, 8,252 monographs, 20,896 dissertations. This provides an opportunity to read literature at a distance, to get independent education. In addition, a separate QR code tracking system has been created at the entrance to the library, which allows to remotely track all the literature available in the library and reserve these books.
     The HEMIS programme of the information resource centre of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage included 980 units of literature in the Internet network 17100 mb, 1 unit of monographs 12 mb, 40 units of articles 80 mb and 9 units of dissertations 40 mb. The HEMIS programme provides distance learning and independent training for teachers, researchers, masters and students of the university.
     The Information and Resource Centre has an electronic library, which is equipped with modern hp computers connected to the Internet network in the number of 17 units. During the working day 120 students have access to these computers.
Over the past year, various events, round tables and open classes were organised in the information and resource centre of our university in order to organise festive events and free time of students in a meaningful way, in which teachers and students took an active part.

On January 10, 2024 Associate professor of "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, Head of the chair of " Languages " department Sultanov Tulkin Irgashevich went to Adas village of Taylak district to implement the tasks appointed in the meeting of Republic Spirituality and Enlightenment Council on December 22, 2023, in addition, according to the message of Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 02/5-2826. Sultanov T. gave a lecture under the mottos "For a new life, for new Uzbekistan!" "Talk in the neighborhood" for the citizens of the neighbourhood in order to give information in a simple and understandable form through concrete life examples and evidence to our people about the wide-scale reforms being implemented in the way of building new Uzbekistan and the achievements achieved, to raise the mood of the population and increase their involvement in the life of the country.

         At the event Republic Spirituality and Enlightenment Centre Head of the  district branch Ziyadulla Avazov , "Adas" neighborhood chairman Abror Khojakulov , "Adas" neighborhood senior inspector of prevention, lieutenant colonel Zikriya Abduraupov , Yastepa jame' mosque’s imam-khatib  Abdunabi Himmatov, director of the 25th school Rustam Jorayev , district culture department employee Murtaza Usmanov participated and expressed their opinions about extensive reforms implemented and progress being made in the way of building new Uzbekistan.

In every higher education institution the work done in the scientific sphere, grants attracted in the republican and international spheres, implemented scientific and innovative projects, research work are very important. Last year, professors and teachers of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage carried out some practical work. Today, a total of 7 foreigners and 19 locals (5 DSc, 14 PhD) with high potential scientific degrees of professors and teachers work in our university.

Attracting foreign and national grants:

In the 2022-2023 academic year, “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage attracted a total of 2,878,568,433 (two billion eight hundred and seventy-eight million five hundred and sixty-eight thousand four hundred and thirty-three thousand) grants from foreign and national regions, professors, researchers and students of the university provided scientific works and services, and continuous research work is carried out. As of 12 September 2023, 1,898,568,433 (one billion eight hundred and ninety-eight million five hundred and sixty-eight thousand four hundred and thirty-three thousand) soums have been paid from international and republican grants.

On grants, scientific and innovative projects, research works carried out by the university in the republic and international community:

According to the cooperation agreement signed with the Northwest University of the People’s Republic of China on 15 November 2022 on the establishment of “China-Uzbekistan Joint International Laboratory of Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Protection Science and Technology”, “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage has imported laboratory equipment worth (1000000 yuan - one million yuan, 151000 US dollars - one hundred and fifty one thousand US dollars), as well as a joint scientific laboratory for the study of human bones.

The laboratory consists of 2 parts, specialising in biochemical research and animal bone research, this laboratory will be able to examine any archaeological excavation materials found in Uzbekistan.

In 2023, a grant of 980,000,000,000 (nine hundred and eighty million) was awarded to the lecturers of the Tourism Management Department of the University, who participated in the competition of the Innovation Development Agency under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation on the topic “Study of the impact of digitalisation of the catalogue of tourism objects of the Republic of Uzbekistan on tourism development”, and scientific research on the project is currently underway.

DSc at “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.33/01.02.2022.1.145.01 on the activities of the Digital Academic Council:

In January-December 2023, a total of 11 researchers defended their dissertations in the speciality 08.00.17-“Tourism and hotel activity”, the researchers were awarded the academic title of Doctor of Philosophy in Economic Sciences.

The activities of basic doctoral students, independent researchers and research trainees in “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage:

The Postgraduate Institute at “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage was established in the forms of basic doctoral students, independent researchers and research trainees, and as of today, 25 basic doctoral students, 20 independent researchers and 1 research trainee are carrying out research activities on their theses. In 2023, one of the universal researchers received a PhD in economics.

In 2023, our professors and lecturers actively participated in scientific and practical conferences, seminars and trainings at “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.

Activities for further development of work in the scientific field in 2024 have been planned.
