“UPGRADE DOCTORATE” — 1-YEAR INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME BASED ON MENTORSHIP

Dear professors, lecturers and researchers!

Uzbekistan State University of World Languages has developed the “Upgrade Doctorate – International Research Upgrade Programme” with the aim of enhancing the research potential of professors, lecturers and researchers, integrating them into the international scientific community, and developing their skills in publishing articles in international scientific journals.

🎓 What does the programme offer?

Within the framework of the programme, participants:

work with international and local mentors;

receive individual support in research methodology and academic writing;

develop skills in preparing and publishing research articles in Scopus and Web of Science journals;

have the opportunity to participate in joint research projects and international scientific cooperation;

participate in 52 weeks of research and practical webinars.

📚 Stages of the 52-week programme

The programme covers 4 main stages:

Stage 1 — Initial Diagnosis of the Researcher and Defining the Research Direction (Weeks 1–13)

The research topic, problem, aims and objectives, research questions, and research concept are developed.

Stage 2 — Literature Review and Conceptual Framework (Weeks 14–26)

Skills are developed in using Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar databases, analysing scientific sources, and identifying the research gap and scientific novelty.

Stage 3 — Research Methodology and Data Analysis (Weeks 27–39)

Research design, sampling, questionnaire and interview tools, validation, data collection and analysis, as well as research ethics are studied.

Stage 4 — Research Article, Publication and Dissemination of Research Results (Weeks 40–52)

Skills are developed in preparing articles in accordance with international standards, selecting an appropriate journal, submitting articles, responding to reviewer comments, and presenting research findings at international conferences.

⭐️ “2 → 20” Model

The programme is implemented based on the “2 → 20” model. According to this model, by involving at least 2 promising professors or lecturers from each higher education institution in the programme every year, it is planned to develop 20 internationally recognised researchers and academic mentors over a period of 10 years.

📈 Expected Outcomes

By the end of the programme, participants are expected to develop the skills necessary for international-level research activities, prepare a research article project, and have a research portfolio and further professional development plan.

The programme also aims to develop an international mentorship system, increase the number of publications in Scopus and Web of Science databases, expand joint research projects, and train a new generation of academic mentors.

ℹ️ Important Information

The programme is organised on a voluntary basis. The programme may be implemented on a paid-service basis, with expenses covered by the university or the participants themselves.
