The “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage was established in the city of Samarkand by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, dated June 28, 2018.
The university was created to establish a system for training professional personnel and conducting scientific research in the field of international tourism, to further develop the historical, cultural, and humanitarian ties among the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and to implement the national initiative proposed by the State Committee for Tourism under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, and the Samarkand Regional Administration.
The emblem of the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage is a symbolic representation of the university’s historical, cultural, and academic values.
The emblem is circular in shape, with an outer ring of blue color. The wavy edges of the ring symbolize stability, tradition, and perfection. Inside the ring, the white background represents purity, devotion to knowledge, and openness.
Along the outer ring, the words “INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF TOURISM AND CULTURAL HERITAGE” and “SILK ROAD” are written in English, symbolizing the university’s international prestige and participation in the global educational space.
At the center of the emblem, there is an image of a caravan with two camels, symbolizing the heritage of the Great Silk Road and the interconnectedness of trade, culture, and scientific exchange. Behind the caravan are depictions of historical architectural monuments, representing the rich history of Eastern culture and tourism.
At the top, an academic cap and gown are depicted, flanked by two small stars symbolizing knowledge, progress, and international cooperation.
The central “Silk Road” inscription is rendered in golden color, reflecting the university’s educational mission inspired by the traditions of the Great Silk Road and its forward-looking concept.
At the bottom, the number “2018” indicates the year the university was established.
The university logo was installed on the upper part of the university building, measuring 1.5 x 1.5 meters, giving a unique and distinguished appearance to the institution. In addition, flags, thousands of T-shirts, and caps featuring the logo were specially produced and distributed to students and guests during various events.
Special statuettes featuring the university’s symbol were also produced for international guests as valuable souvenirs representing the university’s prestige and traditions.
These efforts serve not only to enhance the university’s academic and educational activities but also to promote its brand values widely.
