In order to implement Resolution No. 14 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 16, 2025, “On measures to organize dual education in the higher education system,” a branch of the “History and Cultural Heritage” department of the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage was opened at the Samarkand Institute of Archaeology named after Yahya Gulyamov.
This branch is aimed at strengthening cooperation between science, education, and practical activities in the field of tourism and cultural heritage, allowing students to reinforce their theoretical knowledge through real work processes. It is noted that during the 2025–2026 academic year, students majoring in archaeology and museology completed more than 200 hours of practical training specifically in the laboratories of the Institute of Archaeology.
The department branch will contribute to the implementation of a dual education system, the training of competitive specialists in line with labor market demands, as well as the development of the region’s tourism potential. It will also support the application of innovative ideas into practice and contribute to scientific advancements in archaeology, museology, and the conservation of cultural heritage sites in the region.
