On February 2, 2026, the third seminar for leaders in the fields of tourism and cultural heritage was organized at our university. During the event, the Head of the International Department of the Regional Tourism Administration, H. Mirzoqulov, delivered a presentation and shared his views on the five-year tourism development plan of the Samarkand region within the framework of the “Uzbekistan–2030” initiative.
In his speech, the speaker paid special attention to the strategic directions of the plan and the mechanisms for its implementation, reviewed the state of tourism development in the region in 2025, and outlined future development plans. In particular, issues related to the development of tourism streets, tourism villages, ecotourism sites, recreational areas, adventure tourism centers, and tourism routes were discussed.
It was also emphasized that sustainable development can be achieved by developing tourism in accordance with regional characteristics and creating in-depth cultural and tourism products, as well as by defining a clear roadmap for the high-quality development of regional tourism.
The seminar was moderated by the university Vice-Rector, Professor Tony Zou. During the event, faculty members and students actively participated and received answers to their questions.
The seminar was supported by the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Heritage Tourism along the Silk Roads and the Journal of Silk Road Tourism Studies.
