On January 26, 2026, the second seminar for representatives of the tourism and cultural heritage sectors was held at our university. As part of the event, M. Rahimov, Chief Specialist of the Khorezm Regional Department of Tourism, delivered an informative and engaging lecture entitled “Tourism Potential of the Khorezm Region.”
In his presentation, the speaker provided detailed insights into Khorezm’s unique and rich cultural heritage, current development trends in the tourism sector, as well as promising investment opportunities aimed at advancing the tourism industry in the region. The ideas and analyses presented were received with great interest by the participants.
The seminar attracted considerable attention from university students and faculty members and became an important platform for academic and practical exchange of views. The event was moderated by the university’s Vice-Rector, Professor Tony Zou. During the lecture, lively and productive discussions were held on the preservation of cultural heritage in the ancient city of Khiva and its effective and sustainable use in tourism.
The seminar was supported by the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Heritage Tourism along the Silk Roads and the academic journal Journal of Silk Road Tourism Studies.
