In Tashkent, an international conference on the development of pilgrimage tourism was organized in cooperation with the Uzbekistan Tourism Development Research Institute, the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS), and the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan.

At the international conference, our university’s Vice-Rector for science and innovation T. Zou delivered a presentation titled “Advanced Theories and Practices of Modern Pilgrimage Tourism.” The presentation systematically covered advanced academic theories of pilgrimage tourism, best global practices, Uzbekistan’s pilgrimage tourism model, and future development trends.

He emphasized that creating infrastructure for sacred sites, digital management, encouraging tourists, and integrating “Umrah+” networks are key directions in pilgrimage tourism.

The presentation was highly appreciated by the leadership of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the participants. At the opening ceremony of the conference, Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee S. Bobokalonov and Head of the Pilgrimage Tourism Department under the Committee B. Murodullaev also delivered speeches.

More than 100 experts and scholars from China, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan participated in the event.
