On July 15, 2025, within the framework of the “Important 90 Days" program, the next online reading event was held at the ''Silk Road'' International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage with the participation of students on summer vacation. In this edition of the “Book Club” project, the renowned Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov’s novel “The Day Lasts More Than a Hundred Years” was read and discussed online with students.
Chingiz Aitmatov’s works are typically based on events reflecting the sincerity, diligence, and loyalty to values of the peoples living in his native land — Central Asia.
In this particular novel, the fate of the individual, changes in time and space, and the essence of humanity caught in conflict with values are deeply portrayed. Characters such as Edigei, Kazangap, Nayman Ana, Jolaman, and Sobitchon are presented in unique ways. Through these characters, life’s truths are revealed — people like them can also be found around us in real life.
Participants of the event had the opportunity to study Aitmatov’s creative work more deeply and engage in discussions about the pressing themes raised in his books. Through this reading activity, students not only read a literary work, but also came to a deeper understanding of its philosophical and real-life aspects.
