November 4, within the framework of the session, a presentation dedicated to Uzbekistan’s ratification of UNESCO’s Global Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education was held in Samarkand. This important document enhances the country’s prestige in the global education arena and ensures international recognition of national diplomas and qualifications. Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sharipov Kongratbay and UNESCO Assistant Secreatari Genegeral Stefania Giannini delivered speeches on this side event. Officials, scholars, rectors from the UNESCO member countries gathered to discuss about the mutual recognition of qualifications all over the world.

The Republic of Uzbekistan was accepted by UNESCO as the 39th member of the Global Convention on the Recognition of Qualification in Higher Education.
Through the convention, young people educated in our country will have the opportunity to continue their studies at prestigious universities around the world. It will also open doors to international scientific cooperation for scientists, engineers, teachers, and researchers. In addition, universities in Uzbekistan will expand joint programs, scientific projects, and academic exchanges with foreign educational institutions.
This step brings the national education system closer to global standards and contributes to the development of human capital.
