The event was attended by representatives of the tourism sector, hotel business specialists, entrepreneurs, and local government officials. The seminar discussed global ecological problems, issues in the tourism sector, and the activities of green, sustainable hotels.
The topics of the seminar were as follows:
- The criteria of the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria (GSTC) and the requirements for hotels.
- How the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria (GSTC) can be implemented in practice in Uzbekistan, and which criteria are still challenging, along with the reasons for this.
- A discussion of the ecotourism strategy project for the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
During the seminar, Kuvandikov Sardor, an assistant teacher at the Department of Tourism at the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, shared his thoughts on the pressing issues in the sector.
