The Department of Uzbek Studies of the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage was established at the Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University, located in Turkistan, Republic of Kazakhstan on April 4 of this year. This initiative aims to implement the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PQ-19 dated January 12, 2024, "On additional measures to increase the flow of tourists and further enhance the country's prestige by widely promoting the study of Uzbekistan's history and culture, Uzbek language and literature in foreign countries."
Tulkin Sultanov, Head of the Department of “Languages and Global Studies” of the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, and Farrukh Sattarov, Senior Lecturer of the department, visited the Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University in Turkistan, Kazakhstan. During the visit, they met with the University Rector Dr. Janar Temirbekova, Vice-Rector for Finance and International Relations Mustafa Giritlioglu, Deputy Director of the Research Institute of Turkology Mustafa Chetin and other officials. The meeting addressed issues of supporting the activities of the "Uzbek Studies" department, which is being opened based on an agreement between representatives of the two universities.
The parties expressed hope that the Department will play a significant role in widely promoting the history and culture of Uzbekistan, as well as the Uzbek language and literature in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage presented the Department of Uzbek Studies with over 200 books and albums on the history and culture of Uzbekistan, Uzbek language and literature, tourism and cultural heritage, samples of Uzbek folk applied art, and portraits of prominent figures who have contributed to the development of Uzbek culture, literature, and education.
