Today, on October 21, an event dedicated to the 36th anniversary of granting the Uzbek language the status of the state language and to the Day of the Uzbek Language was held in the Central Recreation Park in the city of Samarkand.
Representatives of the regional administration, the general public, as well as professors and teachers of higher educational institutions took part in it.
At the literary and educational event organized at the foot of the monument of Alisher Navoi,
first, the deputy governor of the region, Rustam Qobilov, spoke about the value of our mother tongue and its place in today’s world.
After that, linguists provided information about the history and current state of the Uzbek language.
During the event, poets and students belonging to different nationalities recited poems in the Uzbek language.
At the end of the event, flowers were laid at the foot of the statue of His Excellency Mir Alisher Navoi, and respect was paid to his image.
