On December 6–8, 2025, a group of international PhD and master’s students led by our university’s Vice-Rector, Professor Zou Tongqian, carried out a research trip to the regions of Khorezm, Bukhara, and Navoi with the aim of conducting academic studies in the fields of cultural heritage, ecology, and tourism.
The group began their visit from the ancient city of Khiva. The students observed the monuments of Ichan Kala, the Kalta Minor, and the Juma Mosque, exploring the harmony of Silk Road civilizations.
The next destination was the Tuyamuyun Hydroelectric Complex along the Amu Darya River, where they conducted analyses on water resource management, ecological challenges, and tourism opportunities.
In Bukhara, discussions centered around the restoration processes of the Poi-Kalon complex, the Mir-Arab Madrasah, and the Kalyan Minaret, as well as the use of cultural heritage in tourism.
At the end of the trip, the group visited Sentob, recognized as the “Best Tourism Village,” located in Navoi Region. Its natural beauty, ancient history, local hospitality, and rural tourism practices left a strong impression on the participants.
This trip provided students and teachers with practical understanding of the close interconnection among cultural heritage, ecology, and tourism.
