It is known that on 25 May, " Last Bell" events were held in all secondary schools of our country. The first vice-rector of our university for administrative affairs, D. Nasimov, congratulated all the graduates and invited the students of this school, who are interested in tourism and cultural heritage, to study at "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage by taking part in the "Last Bell" event held at school No. 56 under the Department of Pre-school and School Education of Kattakurgan region.
At the event, certificates of honour were awarded to exemplary students who achieved high results in their studies.
On 26 May of this year, Cai Xuejun, General Manager of China Silk Road Fund, visited the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. Rector of our university A. Abdukhakimov met and introduced the delegation to the university. Our university attracted considerable interest of the guests due to its impressive achievements despite its short activity.
In particular, General Manager Cai Xuejun expressed his wish to expand cooperation with the university and develop tourism in Uzbekistan, preserving cultural heritage, impressed with the conditions created for students and youth at the university.
On 26 May of this year, a delegation headed by Liu Duo, Vice Mayor of Shanghai City, visited our university. D. Nasimov, First Vice-Rector of our university for Administrative Affairs, Tongqian Tony Zou, Vice-Rector, met and acquainted the guests with the activities of the university. The members of the delegation also had a close acquaintance with the Academy of Tourism, UN Tourism Thematic Office of Silk Road Tourism.
Shanghai Vice Mayor Liu Duo also exchanged ideas on cooperating with "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in exchanging teachers and students, doing joint research and teaching Chinese language. It is important to note that the members of the delegation were very impressed with the conditions and opportunities created at our university.
On 17-19 May of this year, an international conference on Cultural Awareness and Development of Sustainable Tourism in Hojaley district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan was organised by the Tashkent State University of Economics.
At the conference, Professor Tony Zou, Vice-Rector of "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, Tongqian Tongqian, delivered a lecture on "Climate Change and Tourism Transformation: Theoretical Frontiers and Best Practices". Speaking at the conference, the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Professor Kongratbay Sharipov, spoke about the importance of the conference. Nobel Peace Prize recipient, officials from Karakalpakstan government, UNESCO Uzbekistan Commission, experts from UNEP and Harvard University delivered speeches on the conference. More than 200 scholars, officials and university students took part this conference.
On 20-22 May of this year, D. Nasimov, First Vice-Rector for Administrative Affairs of "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, as well as Head of Department J. Kholboev visited Andijan College of Tourism and Service under the University and Margilan Technical School of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, and got closely acquainted with their activities.
During the visit, they visited classrooms of educational institutions, hotel and tourism practice rooms, sports hall and activist hall. There was a close dialogue with teachers and students, questions were answered. At the end of the visit there was an exchange of views with the college management on further activities of the educational institution and appropriate instructions were given.
On 22 May of this year, the Women's Council of "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage held an event among students on the theme "Dresses worn by grandmothers". The purpose of holding such an event is that respect for our national costumes worn by our grandmothers introduces our unique traditions into the minds of young people, forms in them oriental qualities of decency, which will create conditions for them to become real hostesses, beloved mothers and honoured grandmothers in the future.
At the event, the students demonstrated their national costumes and jewellery made according to the traditions of the residents of Samarkand, Kashkadarya, Bukhara and Navoi regions. The event, held to popularise the national costumes of our people, which have a thousand-year history, was remarkable in that it was organised with great interest.
On 20 May of this year, the VII General Assembly of the Union of Universities of Turkic States (TURKUNIB) was held under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan State Economic University (UNEC). About 50 university rectors, representatives of science and education of Turkic states took part in the international event.
Speaking at the meeting, UNEC Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov welcomed the participants and made a presentation on the work done by UNEC during the presidency of TURKUNIB. It was noted that a draft roadmap including many activities and projects in the field of science, education and social sphere for 2024-2025 was prepared and presented to the General Assembly of TURKUNIB.
Kubanichbek Omuraliyev, Secretary General of the Organisation of Turkic States, who attended the General Assembly, welcomed the participants and spoke about the work carried out by the organisation and future challenges: "Applications from 60 new universities to join the TURKUNIB organisation show the increased interest in the organisation. Today we will discuss ways to further strengthen the organisation". The eighth meeting of education ministers of Turkic states to be held in Shusha in June is of great importance in terms of accepting these proposals and further institutionalising TURKUNIB," the Secretary General said. It was also announced at the meeting that applications of 60 universities for membership will be considered and important issues of the future activities of the union will be discussed.
After the opening speeches, the General Assembly continued its work with discussions. The meeting discussed issues such as harmonisation of scientific and educational programmes of TURKUNIB member universities, increasing the number of exchange programmes, recognition of equivalence of diplomas and other issues.
In order to ensure the development of international understanding between the United States of America and the youth of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the U.S. Embassy for the first year students of the International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage “Silk Road” on May 29, 2024 in the Conference Hall of the University is organized American Speech Competition - “American Speech Competition”. Within the framework of the project "Enlightenment Connects", aimed at widely attracting young people to reading books, raising the level of artistic literacy, education in the spirit of patriotism and involvement in the future of our country, the staff of "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage and writers held a creative meeting with pupils of the 8th general education school of "Istiklol" mahalla in Taylak region of Samarkand oblast.
The poets told the readers in detail about the great attention paid in our country to education, especially higher education, and the novelties in this sphere, about the life and work of outstanding creative figures who are members of the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan, as well as about the areas of university education and the advantages of studying in this institution.
The library of "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage hosted intellectual games "Zakovat" dedicated to the visit of Nurulla Choriev and Sardar Khamraev.
4 teams took part in the intellectual game "Zakovat", which has become a mass-educational movement among the students of the university. During the intellectual game "Zakovat" questions were devoted to the work of our masters. This competition, which was held in an interesting form, made a great impression on our youth.
After the intellectual game "Zakovat" our participants left their autographs in the book of memorable records of the university.
