Provision of electronic automated and remote access in the information resource centre of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage https://unilibrary.uz /  the platform is available. This platform is placed on a tablet in the form of a table at the entrance to the library ( reception).

This platform includes 186,974 items of literature, 26,078 articles, 8,252 monographs, 20,896 dissertations. Remote reading of this literature provides an opportunity for self-study. In addition, a special QR code tracking system has been created at the entrance to the library, which allows remote tracking of all the literature available in the library and reservation of these books.

“Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Information and Resource Centre has 25,371 items of literature in the form of books under the title of 13522. Of them 4801 copies of literature in Uzbek language, 3680 copies in Russian language, 10 749 copies in English language and 5141 copies in other languages. Of these: printed literature in bound forms-25371 pcs, electronic-911 pcs, Braille-17 pcs, audio-58 pcs, educational literature in bound forms-1039 pcs, scientific literature-1814 pcs, fiction-1793 pcs, foreign literature-19354 pcs, other literature-371 pcs.

All conditions for students and teachers are created in the library. The library has 1 electronic room with 14 new (hp) computers. There are also 2 study halls and a room for intellectual games. In the first study hall there are 18 soft cushions (poufs). The second study hall has 21 seats and students have the opportunity to read books and prepare a lesson using educational literature. In the Brainstorming room, teachers and students hold discussions on a topic of interest. At the same time, Atriuum Book Systems (USA) platform is used in the library. Through this platform, students and teachers can find the literature they need, borrow it, or come to the Information Resource Centre and borrow it. All the rooms of the library are equipped with cooling (air-conditioning) devices and each room is decorated in its own beautiful way.

Currently, the EBSCOhost database of local and international information and databases in the information resource centre of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage http://search.ebscohost.com , Atrioom Book Systems https://univsilkroaduz.booksys.net , Proquest https://www.proquest.com , Unilibrary.uz https://unilibrary.uz , Springer https://link.springer.com ) are used.

 

On 12 October of this year, Professor Ma Jian, Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Heritage, Northwest University of China, gave a lecture for the students of our university on “From oasis to grassland: the early development and interaction of the mountains of Eastern Tianshan”. During the lecture, information about the importance of the East Tianshan region in the history of the Great Silk Road, archaeological scientific expeditions conducted in the territory of oases and grasslands was presented.

It was also told about the importance of scientific research works carried out in Surkhandarya region with the cooperation of Chinese-Uzbek archeologists. At the end of the lecture, the students received answers to their questions.

On December 19, 2011, the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution 66/170, proclaiming October 11 the International Day of Girls and recognizing their rights. In 2023, we celebrate the 12th anniversary of the establishment of the International Day of Girls.

A solemn event dedicated to the International Day of Girls, organized by the Chairman of the Women’s Council of the University M.Abbasova, and the university in cooperation with the primary organization of the Youth Union was held at the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage from early morning. This event was attended by the first Vice-rector J.Eltazarov, the staff, as well as the teaching staff of the university.

“Over the past 12 years, issues of importance to girls have received significantly more attention at all levels, and girls have more opportunities to have their voices heard. The empowerment of women and girls and the promotion of gender equality are crucial to accelerating sustainable development”, - noted the first Vice-rector J.Eltazarov.

During the event, certificates were awarded to foreign students, as well as students who helped in the organization of this event.

Our university radio

“Silk Road”2 International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage has had a university campus radio for three years now. University Campus Radio (university radio or student radio) is a university student radio (but not affiliated with a broadcasting station).

University Campus Radio, along with university news, announcements, was created to inform the entire university community of tourism messages, to promote public speaking among the community and students, and to maximise the use of students' free time.

University Campus Radio broadcasts a variety of popular national contemporary music aimed at uplifting the local community and students, as well as news, announcements, new and relevant information about campus life, education, science and tourism.

What should a modern tutor be like?

On October 9, 2023, the psychologist of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage D.Turdiyeva held a master class for tutors on the topic “What should a modern tutor be like?”.

At the event, which took place in the form of an interactive conversation, we reflected on personal and professional qualities of tutors, who today have a great responsibility and task, as well as psychological aspects of their activity, were discussed. They were given instructions and tasks on conducting psychological methods prepared for students.

It is worth mentioning that the role of a tutor nowadays is immense and crucial and moreover, it is the tutor who acts as a link between students and the management, lecturers and staff of the university.

As it is well known, today in our country great attention is given to the development of the unbiased donor movement, attracting the general public to donate free of charge and providing patients with safe blood components. In this regard, on October 5, 2023, for the students of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage “Goodness Will Return” or be an impartial donor! - was held under this slogan to promote the selfless blood donation movement among young people in our country. During the event Jabborova Aziza Mansurovna, Head of Samarkand Blood Donor Center, Kasimova Zarina Sobirovna, Head of Biological Control Department provided information on why it is necessary for our youth to donate blood, the process of blood donation, blood donation procedures and impartial donors.

“Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage encourages all faculty, staff and students to actively participate in charity events such as “Charity”, which is held to promote the donor movement and become an impartial donor and support patients in need.

A teacher at the Department of Tourism Management, Nodira Muhammadieva, organized a business training with the participation of experienced businessman Khurshid Turaev on the topic “Business Portfolio” with the aim of organizing a practical lesson for students. At the training, the entrepreneur shared his experience of running a business. At the end of the program, students received answers to their questions. Entrepreneur Khurshid Turaev invited our students to work together.

Representatives of the International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage "Silk Road", led by the first vice-rector J. Eltazarov, took part in the forum of rectors of higher educational institutions as part of the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 135 04/26/2023, which was held at Bukhara State University on October 7-8.

During the forum, guests got acquainted with the conditions created for the teaching staff and students of Bukhara State University, as well as the innovations being carried out at the university.

The event participants also inspected the conditions created in the student dormitory, the “Besh tashabbus (Five Initiatives)” rooms, the “Zakovat” corner, and the “My office” co-working center, which were created for meaningful spending of free time. The guests visited the University Information Resource Center, where 500,000 books are collected, got acquainted with the study rooms and the possibilities of using any information resource for each user. Along with studying the activities of the Business Accelerator and the Robotics Center within it, they also received information about the Uniwork system at Bukhara State University.

On the last day of the forum, they visited the tourist cluster “BUKHARA DESERT OASIS & SPA”, located in the Romitan district of the Bukhara region, and got acquainted with the conditions created in the cluster.

Following the forum, it was decided to adopt a resolution based on the proposals.

On 5 October of this year, the first vice-rector of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage J.Eltazarov and staff of the Department on work with youth and mahallas visited the mahalla “Furkat” in Samarkand and studied the social and spiritual environment that has developed here. At meetings with representatives of the “Mahalla Five” and residents of the mahalla, they discussed the work to be carried out jointly with universities and the tasks to improve and regulate the life of the population, streets and walkways that make up the mahalla.

Today, along with people of different nationalities living in this mahalla, most of them have come to be considered as intelligent families. Therefore, the social and spiritual environment here is much more exemplary. During the meeting, a close dialogue was held with the chairman of the mahalla, the assistant khokim and the inspector of the preventive health centre, and practical recommendations were given on working on the problems of citizens listed in the “Iron Notebook”, “Women’s Notebook”, “Youth Notebook” and the social register.
