From March 25 to 30 of this year, the “Silk Road” University hosted qualifying competitions within the framework of the “Rector’s Cup”. The competitions were held on the basis of the approved schedule, according to which 50 students were involved in badminton, 190 – football, 80 – chess, 71 – arm wrestling, 190 – quest, a total of 581 students were involved (86 of them are girls).
This sports tournament is organized in order to ensure the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 6099 of October 30, 2020 “On measures for the widespread introduction of a healthy lifestyle and the further development of mass sports”, the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 735 of November 19, 2020 “On measures to support a healthy lifestyle and increase physical activity”.
On April 2, the final stage of the “Rector’s Cup” was held at the main football arena of the city of Samarkand – the “Dynamo” Stadium. The final match between the football teams “Bad Guys” and "Sparta" was held here. Previously, the university held the finals in badminton, arm wrestling and chess.
The audience watched an exciting match, filled with bright moments. The full time of the match did not reveal the winners, the draw score “3:3” was on the scoreboard. Only penalty shootouts proved that the strongest team of the entire tournament is FC “Sparta”. It is noteworthy that the players of “Sparta” during the match lost to their opponents with a score of 0:2, however, the team fought to the last and deservedly became the champion of the tournament!
At the end of the football match, the official part of the program of the “Rector’s Cup” began – the award ceremony for the winners in all the sports presented, as well as the quest.
The final stage of the “Rector’s Cup” was held by the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism in cooperation with the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the regional administration.
