On 22 June of this year, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism hosted an international congress on the theme “Focus on Tourism and Сreative Economy” at “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. First Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ulugbek Azamov took part in the conference online and touched upon the challenges to be met in developing the industry today and wished the congress good luck.
It is known that in recent years, as a result of a number of decrees and decisions by our president to develop the industry, the sphere has increased and the interest of foreign tourists in our country has grown. Deputy Samarkand region’s governor Rustam Kabilov, who spoke at the event, noted that the number of tourists coming to Samarkand from a number of developed countries has multiplied, which has resulted in economic growth in such sectors as transport, hotels and gastronomy. Professors and lecturers of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage also took part in the international congress with their lectures, which were interesting from each other.

On 20-24 June of this year Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan together with Culinary Association of Uzbekistan and non-state educational institution “School of Hospitality and Service” started short-term advanced training courses in Tashkent for teachers and educators of professional educational institutions engaged in tourism, hospitality, catering and cultural heritage.
Teachers of the specialised field of colleges and technical colleges under “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage are being trained in these courses.
On June 20 this year, in the hall of Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, Chairman of the Republican Youth Union Temurbek Poyonov held a meeting with youth leaders, coordinators and active youth of higher education institutions in Samarkand. Nargiza Abduvohidova, head of department at the university, moderated the meeting. During the event, Chairman of the Republican Youth Union Temurbek Poyonov spoke about the attention and care paid to youth at the initiative of the President in recent years. In addition, analyzing several days of study in higher education institutions of Samarkand, he expressed his objections to the leaders who have made mistakes and shortcomings, while appreciating the work done by some senior leaders. At the event, a number of proposals and initiatives were made among the coordinators of the Uzbekistan-Finland Institute and Samarkand State University named after Sharaf Rashidov. Chairman of the Union of Youth of the republic Temurbek Poyonov said that today the necessary funds will be paid for creative proposals necessary for further development of the system. Also, at the end of the meeting, answered to questions of the young people.
These days 300 graduates of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage are defending their bachelor's theses. Professors and lecturers of the university’s departments participate in the defence processes and check the level of the students’ knowledge. Importantly, students defending their theses are fully conducted in English. The thesis of Bakhora Kuvondikova, a student of “Mass Events Management” at the Faculty of Tourism Management, was on the topic “Pilgrimage tourism in Uzbekistan and its significance”, which raised the issue of our country as one of the safest countries in the world and attracting more foreign tourists by this process.Bahora plans to continue this thesis work in the Master’s degree as well. The processes of defending the graduates’ theses are ongoing.
In the indoor pool of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, student sports competitions were held and the winners were determined.
A student of our university, Sultanov Shokhrukh, was selected as a participant in the Central Asian Youth Dialogue Forum “Youth for Rule of Law, Integrity and Crime Prevention”, organised by the OSCE, which will be held in Almaty, Kazakhstan on 17-21 July 2023. Our student received a fully funded grant.

In the newspaper of 15 June 2023, under the title “Higher Education Institutions”, there is an article titled “The Leading University in Tourism Education” that mentions the improved quality of education at the university, that students are taught in English, that a special meeting of “Turkic World Organization” was held recently and that Professor J.Eltazarov, first vice-rector of the university, was awarded a medal of Chingiz Aitmatov.
On June 15 this year, on the initiative of Dildora Turdieva, psychologist at Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, a motivational training “We are different, but we are together!” was organized.
The festive event, which was held in high spirits, was a respite for students who were tired for the school year. Teachers and university staff took part in it and were charged with positive emotions. Team building games, various contests, dancing and music made a lasting impression on all participants.
Friendly conversations over a cup of tea, which is one of the decorations of oriental etiquette, will undoubtedly lead to the formation of a positive atmosphere in the team and rallying of employees.
