The “American Speech Contest” organized by American Fulbright ETA Chanel Nassir and the teachers of “Languages” department Gulrukh Yusupova and Nargiza Akhrorova took place on 26 May 2023 in “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. The English-language speech contest, which aimed to enhance students’ interest in public speaking and oratory, was open to all students of “Silk Road”, and 11 best speeches on “What do you believe is a pressing issue facing the world today? How should the global community address this problem?” were selected in elimination round for further oral speech delivery. On the day of the event, an independent guest panel of American Fulbright ETAs judged the contestants. The contestants were judged according to the following criteria: content, delivery language, and time management. 

According to the results, the 3rd place was awarded to the student of “Plan-119” group Gulnoza Jiyanova; the 2nd place: to the student of the group “Int-219” Sitora Uzbekova; and 1st place to the student of the group “Log-119” Ramziddin Ergashev!

All the participants and winners received memorable gifts and certificates; the winner of first place received the grand prize - Apple AirPods Pro. All the memorable presents and certificates were at the expense of the US Embassy in Tashkent.

We announce that the international congress "Focus on Tourism & Creative Economy" will be held in Samarkand on June 22,23.

The main issues to be discussed at the conference:

  • The main purpose of the conference analysis of business trends in the field of tourism that provide creative economic growth and create jobs.
  • Organization of the presentation of projects for the creation of various creative industries to meet new needs in the field of tourism.
  • Analysis of the strengths, opportunities and threats of the creative economy in promoting tourism development.
  • It envisages the organization of conferences and seminars aimed at the introduction of the best practices in the field of tourism in the world market, the newest creative types of tourism with the participation of business entities and young people.

Professors and teachers, doctoral students, independent researchers, researchers, graduate students, students and industry experts can participate in the conference.

13 foreign professors are currently teaching students at “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage founded on the initiative of our President. Since the beginning of the academic year, contracted professors from such countries as Turkey, Australia, USA, France, China, Russia and Tajikistan have been using their experience to make young students be skilled trades by teaching them in English on such subjects as international relations, interpreter-guides, tourism and cultural heritage and world history.

WOMEN STUDENTS TOOK A QUIZ «DO YOU KNOW THE NEW LAW?»

In order to increase social and political activity of women in the society, increase their spirituality, strengthening of family values on June 9 this year within the activities on the theme «Women - mirror of society» chairman of the Women’s Council of the University M.Abbasova and leader of the primary organization of the Youth Union of the University S.Haydarov organized a quiz «Do you know the new law?».

        Teams consisting of female students of the university – «New Uzbekistan», «Bibihanim», «Girls of Uzbekistan», «Komus», «Adolat», «Girls Leaders» and «Followers of Tumaris» - competed in it. The quiz was attended by Advisor to the Rector M. Rozikov, Head of Legal Bureau O. Absamiev, psychologist D. Turdieva, Head of Research Department N. Mansurova, Head of History and Cultural Heritage Department M. Sidikova, tutors G. Khusainova and D. Khusanova, as well as professors and students of the university.

        The questions were created on the basis of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan «On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the further improvement of the system of reliable protection of the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of women and children».

        As a result of the quiz, first place went to the «Girls Leaders» team. Second place went to the «Komus» team, and third place went to the girls of the «Tumaris followers» team. The winning teams were awarded with diplomas and memorable gifts.

Tutor D.Xusanova of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage together with 1st year students participated in a meeting with experts in the field on the theme “My Law is My Future” at the Youth Centre.

During the meeting, experts spoke about the role of legislation in tourism and cultural heritage. They shared their experiences and knowledge about the impact of laws on various aspects of tourism. One of the main topics raised at the meeting was the protection of cultural heritage. The experts discussed the preservation and protection of historical and cultural monuments, as well as the legal mechanisms used to combat illegal trafficking in cultural property.

The students took an active interest in the topic and actively participated in the discussion, asking questions of the experts.

On June 23, 2023, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports, the Youth Affairs Agency, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Institute for the Study of Youth Problems and Training of Prospective Personnel It is planned to hold a scientific-practical conference on the topic "Strategy of implementation of state policy on youth in Uzbekistan: current situation and development prospects".

Interesting facts presented by Uzbek historians and literary scholars about the historical and artistic similarities between people living in Turkic states were relayed to the visitors at the “Afrasiyab” museum. At the special meeting event, examples were read from excerpts of M.Kashgari’s “Devonu Lugatit Turk”.  This further raised the interest of all Turkic scholars.

“Post-tertiary education to Chapter 6 of the Regulation on stipulates that the monitoring of the efficiency of the searchers' activities should be carried out at least once a year.

In order to ensure the implementation of this Regulation, monitoring processes will be organized at the International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage “Silk Road” on July 4, 2023. Monitoring processes of the university's First Vice-Rector J.D. Eltazarov's order No. 86 of June 5, 2023 approved by the members of the commission of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 22, 2017 “Measures for further improvement of the post-higher education system” It is carried out in accordance with paragraphs 53-54 of the Regulation “On Post-Higher Education” approved by Resolution No. 304.

On June 6, 2023, the opening ceremony of the Indian study room was held at “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Uzbekistan Manish Prabhat, embassy staff, Indian citizens living in Samarkand and Indian students of our university took part in the opening ceremony. Following the opening ceremony, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between India’s “Food Tourism Organization” and “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.

         The opening of the Indian Cabinet demonstrates a new level of cooperation between the two countries, not only in economic, political, but also in cultural and educational areas. This Indian cabinet now serves as a kind of gas pedal for the youth of the two nations to study Uzbek and Indian languages and enrich their cultural knowledge.

          In the long term, the signing of a memorandum on cooperation between India’s prestigious universities and “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, and the establishment of systemic relations in higher education would certainly be beneficial for the youth of both sides. The dialogue, which took place in a spirit of sincere and open communication, talked about these very plans.
