On 28-29 February of this year, World Edu 2024 Education Fair was held at SOF EXPO in Jomboy. The staff of the Admission and Marketing Department of our university also participated in this fair. It is noteworthy that all higher education institutions working in Samarkand region took part in the fair and made a number of presentations for the participants of this event. In particular, the staff of our university also spoke in detail about training in the field of tourism and cultural heritage, establishing co-operation with specialists from foreign universities, opportunities and conditions.

Opening the fair with an opening speech, the assistant to the regional governor N. Ibragimov spoke about the role of specialists in today's higher education in the training of specialists. At the event, all specialists of higher education conducted campaigning work in the section of specialities for next year's admission.

On 29 February, Lazizbek Mukhtorov, Head Specialist of Bukhara Region Tourism Department, presented an online lecture at "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. The seminar hosted by the Vice-Rector Prof. Tony Zou of "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. More than 30 master's students, doctoral students and lecturers participated in the seminar, which was organised by Prof. Tony Zou of "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.

In his presentation, Mr Lazizbek Mukhtorov introduced the development of tourism in Bukhara with the concept of "unified tourist zone for the Old City", a theme of dramatic changes in tourism in Bukhara.

Lazizbek Mukhtorov's presentation, rich in analyses, made a great impression on the seminar participants. The participants addressed Lazizbek Mukhtorov with questions on the topic of the seminar. The Vice-Rector of our university, Prof Tony Zou and the speaker Lazizbek Mukhtorov exchanged views on the issue of further development of tourism in historical cities.

On 4 March, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan Dr Mohammad Monirul Islam visited "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage during his visit to Samarkand. Tony Zou, vice-rector for scientific affairs and innovations of the university, welcomed the guest. At the meeting, representatives of "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage spoke about the work carried out in the field of education and co-operation. After that, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan Dr. Mohammad Monirul Islam visited the library of our university, got acquainted with scientific and artistic literature, opportunities created for students, and wrote his sincere wishes in the Book of Honorary Guests of the university. The guest also scrutinised the exhibition of paintings at the university and the National Costume Gallery.

Director-General of UNESCO Azoulay signed the agreement on launching the Chair of UNESCO "Sustainable Heritage Tourism along the Silk Road" at "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.  

Essentially, the rector of our university A.Abdukhakimov and the vice-rector Tongqian Tony Zou participated in all the application processes. This process was carried out with the efforts of our highly esteemed Rector. First vice-rector J.Eltazarov, head of the department M.Siddikova, head of departments A.Tukhtamishev, N.Mansurova’s active participation should be acknowledged as well. Our team members, F.Akramova, S.Jumaev, Lizhen Yang, Zhixin Lin, Shixin Guanin, Zaidong Li and Yuanlan Zhong also made contribution to this process.

The purpose of the establishment of this department is to strengthen the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage and cultural monuments in Central Asia, to improve its digitalization and wide usage of digitalization in the field of tourism. In Uzbekistan, attention will also be paid to the development of tourism villages and tourism, poverty reduction, women's empowerment and close cooperation with other UNESCO departments.

In carrying out the activities of the department and promoting UNESCO's priorities in the preservation, promotion and wide usage of cultural heritage in the field of tourism, the vice-rector of our university, prof. Tongqian Zou and associate professor Mаstura Siddikova will work together.

In order to usefully spend the free time of students, as well as to acquaint young people studying in the field of tourism with innovations and initiatives in this area, a trip was organised to the recreation area Zamin of Jizzak district, the highest and most mountainous part of the country. During the trip they climbed up the mountain on foot and rode on special ropeways.

This trip became significant in that our university was filled with lifelong impressions for both local and international students.

Employees and students of the university actively participated in the Hotel Business Forum, which took place in Tashkent from February 29 to March 1 at the InterContinental Hotel. The two-day business program was filled with presentations, discussions, and exchanges of opinions among industry professionals, representatives of sectoral committees and ministries, investors, and foreign partners.

As part of the Forum, there was a session on education in the hospitality industry, during which the parties reached a consensus on the further development of new educational programs and practice-oriented modules.

On 28 February of this year, together with the chair of the Women's Council of "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage M. Abbasova and the tutor of the first year G. Khusainova, a round table was held on the topic "Marriages between relatives, early marriages, culture of attitude to women in the family and negative consequences".

During the round table, opinions were expressed on the negative consequences of early marriages between relatives, the reasons for the differences in the culture of attitudes towards women in the family today, the consequences, the impact on the psyche and upbringing of children being brought up and the prevention of such situations.

During the event, the students received necessary recommendations on how to read fiction books more attentively, maintain a culture of treatment and cleanliness. The event, which was held in the form of questions and answers, became much more interesting for the female students.

"Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage is looking for observers for the 93rd TOPIK exam, which will be held on 14 April 2024. All those interested are kindly requested to apply according to the following conditions.

1. Application deadline: from 1 March to 20 March

2. Method of application: send application and passport scan to @silkroadtopik.

 Persons having experience as TOPIK exam observer for the last 3 years

‚ Persons who have experience as a foreign language exam observer for the last 3 years.
