Opening of the direction of study "Travel Journalism»

From the beginning of the 2020-2021 academic year, the direction of study "Travel journalism" will be opened at our University. Starting from September 2020, newly minted 1st-year students (bachelors and masters) of the “Silk Road” University will be able to study in this increasingly relevant profile.

We note that this direction is relatively new in the field of world journalism, and professional training in this field has not been organized in Uzbekistan until now.

Training of modern journalistic personnel in the field of tourism, who are able to professionally and competently navigate the current trends in the field, promptly respond to social and political changes, as well as collect, process, systematize and analyze, and ultimately - distribute objective information about tourism from a journalistic point of view – this is the main mission of the new direction of study at the “Silk Road” International University of tourism.

Travel Journalism is a new direction in journalistic education, designed to increase the number of specialists able to develop the tourism industry on television, in the press and on the Internet; to implement educational, recreational and educational functions of the media.

The development of technologies and the expansion of the audience of information methods has led to the development of travel journalism. Travel journalism is designed to create a positive tourist image for various tourist destinations, transmitting interesting information about their culture, history, and everyday life.

At the “Silk Road” University, for the first time in the country's history, students will develop skills to create a positive tourism image of Uzbekistan, revealing the secrets of tourism journalism.

In the future, this area of education will become the leading area in the country for training journalists in the field of mass media, including highly qualified professional international journalists with excellent knowledge of several foreign languages, as well as scientific and teaching staff.

The standard period for mastering the educational program in the field of travel journalism is 4 years for the bachelor's program and 2 years for the master's program.
