On 26-27 September, “ORIENTATION DAYS” events for first year students were held at “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. The event started with the National Anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan. After that, Prof J.Hoffman and Prof T.Zou, Vice-Rectors of our university, made a speech to open the event. Professors J.Hoffman and T.Zou spoke about the teaching and research processes at the university and welcomed all the first-year students of Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, one of the most prestigious universities in our country. The dean of our university introduced the heads of departments and heads of departments of the university who work directly with students.
For information, in the 2024-2025 academic year, our university admitted 489 students to full-time bachelor's program, 314 to part-time bachelor’s program, 254 to distance learning and 132 to master’s program.
It is known that from this academic year a new faculty has been established in our university and students have been admitted to 5 new directions. Such practical processes show that the processes of education in our university are growing day by day. Also at the event Orientation Days 2024, the department of “Tourism” held a competition in which three students won. The winners were awarded certificates. Also during the Orientation Days 2024 event, the first year students had a close acquaintance with the conditions created on the university campus and in the Academy of Tourism.
On 24 September, a delegation from Sichuan Normal University (SICNU), led by Vice President Guo Zhaohui, visited “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.
The delegation also included the Director of the Financial Department, Deans of the School of Marxism, the School of International Chinese Language Education, and the College of History, Culture, and Tourism, as well as the Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation. This visit represents an important step in strengthening cooperation and enhancing cultural exchange between our institutions. The delegation engaged in constructive discussions aimed at exploring potential partnerships in the fields of tourism and education related to cultural heritage. Importantly, this co-operation will open up great opportunities for both universities in the future.
In connection with the beginning of the 2024-2025 academic year at “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, female students accepted for the first year were accommodated in the university's student dormitory to participate in the “Orientation Week” event.
On 24 September 2024, under the slogan ‘We are all responsible for the female students living in the student dormitory’, the chairperson of the women's council of the university M. Abbasova, prevention inspector Sh. Kurbanov, as well as the tutor of the first year P. Islamov visited the student dormitory and gave the necessary recommendations to the first-year students on the observance of cleanliness and order, personal hygiene, culture of communication, rights and obligations, compliance with the rules provided by the internal etiquette and the conditions of living in the university and in the rooms of the student dormitory, and conducted the corresponding activities.

The paper, titled "Understanding Local People’s Support Intentions toward Cultural Heritage Tourism: An Examination through Stimulus-Organism-Response Perspective," explores the intricate dynamics of community support for cultural heritage tourism.

On September 15-16, the Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Olaf Scholz, who came to our country on an official visit to Samarkand, got acquainted with the activities of the International Tourism Academy at the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. It is known that today the cooperation relations between Uzbekistan and Germany are improving day by day, which is showing its results in tourism. The Tourism Academy, the only one in Central Asia, made a great impression on the high-ranking guest. The Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Olaf Scholz, held a dialogue with a group of students of our university at the Academy of Tourism on issues such as the conditions created for young people in Uzbekistan, the thirst for knowledge of young people.
On September 19, The 9th annual conference of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) was held at the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage on the theme “Building Sustainable Infrastructure for All” It was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation jointly with the Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Investment Industry and Trade Rukhillo Zikrillaev, Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade XXR, Head of the Department for Cooperation Begzod Egamov, Chief Specialist of the National Administration under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Shakhnoza Pulatova, and representatives of the organizers of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Kai Cheng, Monimita Sarkar, Alessio Manes.
A group of volunteer-interpreter students from Samarkand State University, Samarkand Institute of Foreign Languages, Samarkand Institute of Economy and Service, "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage participated in the training seminar. The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Paris (France) hosted an event with the participation of representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organisations. At the event, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to France N. Ganiev and Chairman of the Committee on Tourism under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change U. Shadiev spoke about the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan and the wide opportunities created in the field of tourism.
In order to ensure the implementation of the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 15 March 2024 ‘On measures to prepare the 43rd session of the General Conference of UNESCO in 2025 in the city of Samarkand’, the head of the international cooperation department of our university S. Samaridinov told about three thousand years of history, rich cultural heritage, values of the city of Samarkand and activities of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, UNWTO Academy of Tourism, established at the university, provided the necessary information by making a presentation.
On 19-22 September of this year, members of the delegation headed by the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri visited Samarkand.
On 21 September, the guests visited “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change and Rector of the university A. Abdukhakimov welcomed the members of the delegation. First of all, the guests familiarised with the modern conditions and examples of cultural heritage created for students on the campus. Then, a dialogue was held between the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri, and the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, A. Abdukhakimov, in which they exchanged views on further improvement of practical work on bilateral cooperation. After that, the main part of the event was the ceremony of awarding diplomas to 45 foreign and 74 local students who graduated from the master’s program of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. At the same time, Rector of the university Aziz Abdukhakimov ceremonially handed over the diploma of “Honorary Professor” of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage to the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri in recognition of high results in the development of tourism and preservation of cultural heritage.
Megawati Soekarnoputri and Aziz Abdukhakimov opened the “Sukarno Park” in the yard of the university in recognition of the 1st President of Indonesia Sukarno’s great contribution to the development of religious and cultural tourism in Uzbekistan.
In the second half of the day, the guests got acquainted with the activities of International Tourism Academy established in cooperation with UN Tourism and more than 200 books were donated to the Academy by Megawati Soekarnoputri.
