The combination of theory and practice in tourism education brings excellent results. Today, students of all technical schools, which are part of our university, intern in hotels, tourist and service outlets of our country.

Now young people studying in the direction of vocational education have an opportunity to intern not only in our country, but also in countries where tourism is developed.

On 5 February of the current year between Tashkent Technical School of Tourism and Hotel Management and the Bulgarian company SMART Tour Ltd signed agreements on cooperation on conducting industrial and pre-graduation practice and advanced training of students of the technical school in hotels on the Black Sea coast.

The Government of the Republic of Belarus allocated 10 grant places for Uzbek nationals under the educational grants intended for foreign nationals for the academic year 2024/2025.

The grants are available for study in 10 educational areas of higher education institutions of Belarus on a bachelor's degree programme. Interested applicants should draw up documents in accordance with the established procedure and submit them to the Belarusian Embassy in Tashkent by 20 February this year. The Belarusian side selects candidates on the basis of the received documents.

         On 28 January of this year, the cooperation between the SCO Academy of Economics and Commerce of China and “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage organised interviews with 13 Chinese candidates for admission to the Basic Doctorate (PhD) programme.

         “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage admitted 12 foreign scholars studying in the following fields of study to higher education institutions for the basic doctoral programme (PhD).

         It should be noted that currently 75 per cent of the first-stage researchers studying for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at the Institute of Higher Education (basic PhD) at “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage are foreign researchers.

On 8 February of this year at 15:00 in room 229 the Department of Scientific Research and the teacher of the Department of Languages Nargiza Akhrorova will hold a seminar entitled “Introduction to APA 7, in-text citation and bibliographic list design”.          On 2 February of this year, heads of departments of our university held a meeting with 4th year graduate students. The head of the HORICA department, who initially spoke at the event, A. Sultanov said that the students of the final year can do internship from 1 March of this year, and those who come from other regions will be able to get a referral to their territory. After that F.Nurov, Head of the Office of the Registrar, made a speech, who gave his recommendations that during the time preceding the internship it is necessary to fully master the knowledge before the internship. At the meeting, the head of the training department M.Yorkulov, head of the department A.Odilov and others also expressed their opinion on the agenda.

         At the meeting, final year students received answers to their questions.

         Yesterday, on 1 February, the delegation headed by Mr.TASUYA HITOMI, Head of International Relations Department of Nara Prefecture Administration, Japan, visited our university. There was an exchange of views on strengthening co-operation between “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage and higher educational institutions of Nara Prefecture. Within the framework of the visit, an agreement was reached to hold a festival of friendship and cooperation in October with the participation of students of higher education institutions of Nara and students of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.

         The sides also discussed issues related to the exchange of teachers and students with higher education institutions of Nara city and co-operation in teaching Japanese and Uzbek languages.

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation together with the Foundation for Support of Talented Youth “Ulugbek” and partner organisations announces the Republican competition “Heirs of Mirzo Ulugbek”.

For reference: citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan aged from 16 to 25 years old with their own scientific ideas, innovative developments and rationalisation proposals may take part in the contest.

Applications for participation in the competition are accepted from 15 January to 15 February this year on the official website of the competition (www.vorislar.uz), registration is required.

The 2024 New York Travel & Adventure Show, an international tourism exhibition, is being held these days in New York, USA. In total, the event was attended by about 20,000 participants from more than 160 countries, of which more than a thousand were tour operators.

It is important to note that along with the tourism potential of our country, historical monuments, tourist sites of Samarkand and activities of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage are widely promoted at this exhibition.

Akobir Sultanov, head of the Horica department of our university, took an active part in the exhibition, and the practical work on training qualified specialists in the field of tourism is widely promoted in our university. It is pleasant that due to the purposeful work on exchange of experience and practice of students in countries with developed tourism sphere, our university, along with establishing cooperation with major tourism enterprises, received offers to organise student internships in leading companies.
