On May 24 of this year, students of the Tour-121 and Tour-221 groups, led by tutor Kodirova M. and head of the Department of Cultural Heritage Sidikova M., visited the unique center for the production of the famous Samarkand silk paper - the Meros factory, located in the village of Konigil.
There were told in detail the story of the reconstruction of the private enterprise “Konigil Meros”, about Samarkand paper, known in many countries of the world, which is made using the technologies of the 8th century. The students also got acquainted with the technology of manual production of a unique writing material from mulberry fibers. As craftsmen noted, the mechanization of production is limited only by the use of a water mill.
