On 17 April this year, Agnese Fusaro, Ass.Prof. of History and Cultural Heritage, and MA students of the Archaeology visited a pottery workshop in the tourist village of Konigil in Samarkand, within the course entitled “Pottery Techniques and Archaeometric Analysis”. The MA students were introduced to the traditional production process of pottery making by master potter Mehroj.
This practical session was very useful and helped the students to thoroughly understand the ceramic production process, including the processing of raw materials, forming techniques, decors and coatings used, and workplace requirements.
Master’s students were able to learn about the art of craftsmanship, the selfless labour of the artisan, which continues in its traditional form in Samarkand.
