Dear lecturers and researchers!

We invite you to the 2nd extended meeting of the Department “Languages” of the faculty “Tourism Management” of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, which will be held on July 3, 2023.

At this meeting will be held the defense of the thesis and discussion of the abstract, prepared by Iroda Kamoldinovna Ablakulova, independent researcher of the Department “Languages” in the specialty 10.00.06 - Comparative Literature, Correlative Linguistics and Translation Studies, on “Expression of Nationality in English translations of Uzbek novels of XX century” for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Philological Sciences.

Our university students Sabina Mustafakulova and Albina Khalieva are at Ball State University for a 21-day educational grant established in the American state of Indiana.

As part of the exchange programme, for one month our students are familiarising with American education, student life and the conditions created for young people at the university.

Our university is proud of such students.

Graduates and students of senior courses of higher education institutions to take a training course and get a profession of a tour guide on the monuments and historical sites of Samarkand and other tourist centers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The uniqueness of our proposal is that:
- Training will take place in classrooms equipped with modern technology and located in the Mirzo Ulugbek Madrasah on Registan Square;
- The training course includes master-classes and online lessons, developed and conducted by EastGuidesWest (Netherlands) specialists.
- Also a special course for the tour guides on the Great Silk Road, developed by the experts of the World Tourism Organization on the materials of UNESCO;
- Basic theoretical lectures and practical classes on the monuments of Samarkand and other cities of Uzbekistan will be held by some of the best experts on history, architecture and archeology of our city.
- A qualified psychologist will conduct a course in conflict resolution and stress management.
- The program of the course contains exclusive block of classes on rhetoric and scenic speech. The block instructor is a leading actor of the Samarkand Russian Drama Theater.
- Courses and materials taught, including an extensive electronic library, will allow our graduates to continue their research in the field of tourism with the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan and European tourism companies and experts.

Term of training - 3 months; after successful completion of courses and passing the exam will be issued a diploma of the State standard, specialty tour guide.
Enrollment will be on a competitive basis after signing the Agreement of Mutual Commitment.

On the basis of Order No. 5 dated February 1, 2022 of the Supreme Attestation Commission under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage “Silk Road”, the scientific Council DSc.33/01.02.2022.I.145.01 for awarding academic degrees in economics in the specialty 08.00.17 – “Tourism and Hotel business” was opened.

The Chairman of the Council was appointed Doctor of economics (DSc) Alisher Abduganievich Eshtayev.

Not only Uzbek doctoral students, but also foreign researchers will be defended in our Council. In accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, dissertations will be defended in three languages (English, Russian and Uzbek).

Vice-Rector for Scientific work and innovations, Doctor of Cultural Studies (DSc) Aleksey Valeryevich Kylasov announced the preparation of a dissertation defence plan for the coming year and expressed the hope that the work of the Council would contribute to the replenishment of educational and research institutions of Uzbekistan with qualified scientific personnel.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, declared 2022 the year of "Ensuring Human Interests". The Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage held an online essay contest in English on the theme "Ensuring Human Interests" among students.

The contest, organized by the Department of Science and the Department of Languages, featured 13 students who submitted essays in English on "Ensuring Human Interests" The essays were judged in a fair and transparent manner by members of the working group, elected professors and faculty working at the university.

3 students were recognized as winners and will receive financial encouragement:

1st place: Abdukhalikov Amir. 2nd year. 210 group (three times the amount of the basic scholarship)
2nd place: Oybek Adkhmajonov, 3rd year, Tour119 (2 times the amount of the basic grant)
3-rd place: Mansurov Abdulaziz, 2nd year, 202 group (twice the amount of the basic grant).

The winners will be given additional information about terms of financial encouragement.

The Office of Academic Affairs of the Silk Rod University of Tourism and Cultural Studies is very pleased to announce that our lecturer and PhD candidate FARUKH SHUKUROV has been selected by the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD), Germany’s most distinguished academic research exchange programme, to receive a research fellowship beginning in March of this year. DAAD is a highly competitive program hat exists to extend Germany’s premier research model through partnerships with other countries. Only three other candidates were selected for the honour, candidates being chosen from the leading academic origins in the country the basis of a research statement of interest and purpose and academic achievement. It is also significant for DAAD to select a candidate from a young university, which speaks well of our growing reputation and potential for further research development in the eyes of the Foundation. Farukh will be part of an experienced research team headed by Professorin Dr Kerla Tilman of the University’s department of Computer and information Sciences. The Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst was founded in 1925 in Bonn, and is the largest German support organization in the field of international academic co-operation.

What is SCO?

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an intergovernmental organization founded in Shanghai on 15 June 2001.

The SCO has been an observer in the UN General Assembly since 2005. In April 2010, the UN and SCO Secretariats signed a Joint Declaration on Cooperation. SCO Secretariat has also established partnerships with the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in addition to its ongoing cooperation with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the UN Office on Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT).

"Human Value Above All"

On February 4, 2022 the Women's Council of "Silk Road" International Tourism and Cultural Heritage University organized a workshop on the "New Uzbekistan Development Strategy for 2022-2026" by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyev.

The event opened with the report of the Head of the Women's Council M. Abbasova on the principle "For Human Dignity" put forward in the presidential decree. The report expressed a comprehensive and justified attitude to the fact that the layer of women with intellectual potential and bearers of national values in the country is also responsible for creating the necessary political, legal, socio-economic and scientific-educational foundations for building a new Uzbekistan.

The head of the Department of History and Cultural Heritage, M. Sidikova, Doctor of Philosophy, made a report on "The Strategy of New Uzbekistan Development for 2022-2026" and on the state program for the year 2022 - "The Year of ensuring human interests and development of mahalla". In her analysis, M. Sidikova expressed her opinion on the priority areas of reforms aimed at further improving the welfare of the people, unconditional safeguarding of human rights and interests in the coming years, as well as the measures planned for implementation in this direction.

N.Mansurova, Head of Research Department, and R.Tashniozova, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Management, also commented on the future plans of the university in this area.

Student Incubation and Acceleration centre launched its activities at Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage on February 3, to introduce start-ups and scientific developments as well as identify talents among the students. 

Incubation programme is designed for enthusiasts with ambitious and promising ideas, who will be guided through the training process by professionals. The acceleration programme, on the other hand, is designed for those who have a prototype that needs to be developed to form a complete product in the future.

IT Park is a complex of facilities, buildings and structures designed to ensure the startup and market access, an extraterritorial free economic zone for IT companies, including integration with scientific and educational organizations. It is a place where active and talented people in the field IT will have a real chance to transform their ideas into real business projects through accounting, legal, marketing and educational support.

According to this Memorandum, the parties will cooperate in the following areas:
- establishment of direct partnerships between the parties;
- implementation of joint projects with the involvement of sponsors, grants, etc;
- Implementation of joint projects for the development of a startup ecosystem;
- workshops and individual training programs for trainers and students;
- cooperation in other areas as mutually agreed.

The opening ceremony of the centre was attended by Mr. V. Mukhtarov, the head of Samarkand Regional Territorial Administration under the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communication Development, K. Rakhmatov, the head of Samarkand Regional Territorial Administration of "Uzkomnazorat", specialists of Samarkand branch of IT Park, as well as teaching staff and students of Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. Also, the vice-rectors of the University, Juliboy Eltazarov and Alexey Kylasov, together with K.Rakhmatov, ceremonially cut the ribbon and opened the Center.

Eight computer sets and multimedia equipment have been installed at this centre.

H.E. Sh. Hakeem Atabek Shukurov a founder of Maturidi and Ibn Sina Herbal Institutes in United Kingdom has donated books and monographs in English to the university library. Collection includes famous fiction of our time such as John Green's "The Fault in Our Stars", Stephanie Meyer's "Twilight" series and others.

To enrich University’s digital library, a number of video cassettes of films and books on history, culture and tourism were donated.

Maturidi Institute is an organisation which has been founded by the renowned Scholar and Herbalist: Sh. Atabek Shukurov an Nasafi to focus on research and education. His immaculate character and ocean of knowledge in both the Islamic Sciences and Herbal Medicine make him second to none in this field. Institute is specialized in a wide range of fields including Aqeedah, Hadith, Fiqh, Tasawwuf, Comparative Religion, Contemporary and Other Sciences. The aim is to educate people using the authentic knowledge from the past and ensuring the right means are in place to ensure the message is passed to future generations. Institute is a non-profit based organisation in which all profits are used for research purposes.

Ibn Sina Herbal Institute was found by Sh. Hakeem Atabek who came to the UK in 2006 in an effort to spread traditional Islamic knowledge and Herbal Medicine. He has taught in numerous institutes and universities and is regular on Sky Television, where he has daily shows such as "Ask the Alim" and a special Herbal show named "Avicenna's Garden".

 

The university administration expresses sincerest gratitude to H.E.
