On August 20 of this year, the delegation of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Uzbekistan, Ms. Jiang Yan, made an official visit to the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.
The main purpose of the visit is the official opening ceremony of the Chinese Corner, within the framework of the upcoming SCO Summit.
The guests of honor were met by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Rector of the “Silk Road” University A. Abdukhakimov, as well as the first Vice-Rector J.Eltazarov.
During the introductory tour of the university, Ms. Jiang Yan was impressed by the management model and advanced technologies used in the learning process, as well as the unique historical elements of the Great Silk Road.
During the visit, the official opening of the Chinese Corner took place in the library of the "Silk Road» International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. It is worth noting that the Embassy of the People's Republic of China has donated more than 550 books to the library, which are devoted to the history, culture and tourism of China, as well as museology, architecture and art, which will undoubtedly bring great benefit to our teachers and students in the process of scientific research and training.
Two historical national costumes of China were also presented during the ceremony.
"Cultural ties play a special role in strengthening friendly relations between the peoples of Uzbekistan and China. The exchange of literary works is of great importance for a better understanding between the public of the two countries. Today's event - the opening of the Chinese corner in the university library - is evidence of a special level of development and maintenance of bilateral relations," A.Abdukhakimov said.
The Chinese Ambassador noted that cooperation between the two countries is steadily developing in many areas, including cultural, humanitarian and educational, and the agreements reached between the leaders of our states are an important basis for this.
Also during his speech, A.Abdukhakimov stressed the need to maintain strong working contacts, as well as to establish an academic bridge for unhindered mobility of students and university teachers of both countries.
In the near future, with the support of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a competition on the theme "History and Culture of China" will be announced for students of the “Silk Road” University, following which the winners will be able to visit China for a deeper study of the language and its culture.
