Nature knows no borders. Especially for migratory species of wild animals, geographical boundaries are alien. Therefore, international cooperation and cross-border efforts are important for their conservation, survival of this kind of animals, preservation of biodiversity.
It should be noted that in 1979 in Bonn, Germany, the UN Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals was signed, which entered into force in 1983. 133 states are members of this convention.
In particular, Uzbekistan joined the Convention in 1998. This UN convention unites the countries through which migratory animals pass - the range states - and provides a legal basis for internationally agreed conservation measures throughout the migration zone. Since 2013, it has become a tradition in Uzbekistan to celebrate Migratory Animals Day.
Various members of the animal kingdom embark from time to time on a dangerous and herring-drying journey to live only as a species. In doing so, their survival, safety dictates international cooperation, jeep efforts. Therefore, by marking this date, the public and scientists want to draw attention to the problem of endangered migratory animals facing various obstacles created by mankind.
The Presidential Decree “On Measures to Effectively Organize the Activities of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change,” adopted on May 31, also reflects the goal of ensuring the implementation of the UN Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals. In addition, the 14th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS COP14) is expected to be held in Samarkand.
In connection with this date, tasks are set to organize conferences, round tables and meetings, events and wide media coverage with the participation of responsible ministries and departments, higher educational institutions and scientific institutions. Such activities are of great importance for mitigation of environmental problems and preservation of biodiversity. It should be remembered that preservation of nature, animal life is a task facing humanity.
