There is one great truth in the world, which says: "Only the person who has a dream and who strives for its realization is happy." (A.Qodiriy)

On November 12 of this year, the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage hosted the premiere of the play "Bygone Days" based on the world-famous novel by A.Qodiriy, organized in connection with the 32nd Anniversary of the assignment of the status of the Uzbek State Language. The event began with the reading of the author's poems, playing the dutar, and continued with the dynamic acting of the students, which took the audience to distant troubled times, against which the pure and eternal love of Otabek and Kumush triumphs.

The theme of the novel is the brightest to read today, as it tells about historical events of the past and is of great importance for the present and future in the life of our people.

At the end of the event, the active participants were awarded certificates of honor.

Cultural heritage of Uzbekistan

The culture of Uzbekistan has a rich history, which was inextricably linked by centuries-old traditions and lifestyle of the peoples of Central Asia. Located at the crossroads of the Great Silk road, Uzbekistan has collected on its territory many architectural monuments, ancient fortresses and castles, mysterious and unique natural monuments, elements of folklore, many of which are now protected by UNESCO World Heritage.

To date, UNESCO Representative World Heritage list includes 4 architectural complexes - the Ichan Kala Museum-reserve in Khiva (1990), the historical centre of Bukhara (1993), the historical centre of Samarkand "Samarkand – crossroads of cultures" (2001), the historical centre of Shakhrisabz, the Ugam-Chatkal National Park (2016) and 9 monuments of intangible heritage.

Since the Independence of Uzbekistan, the country has focused not only on preserving cultural heritage through restoration work on monuments, but also on strengthening national consciousness and recognition in world culture.

For more than a Millennium, minarets and ancient domes have become a kind of symbol of many cities, a picturesque silhouette of urban landscapes, their religious and educational institutions-mosques and madrassas.

In independent Uzbekistan, these unique creations of ancient architects have acquired a special status as objects of priceless cultural heritage and are under special state protection.

On November 9, 2nd year Master’s students gathered for a meeting with a professional in her field, Cluster General Manager and part-time supervisor for a practical course Deborah Haines. The first lesson was about Grooming and Behavior, in which we discussed the appearance of hotel staff, which must meet the established standards, since the first impression is the basis of customer satisfaction. Next, was discussed the importance of the correct behavior of the hotel staff, since it is the staff that creates the atmosphere of coziness and comfort in the hotel.

“The hotel itself is just a concrete building without a heart, blood and life, and only people who work here, create that very pleasant atmosphere of a cozy place where you want to return. Therefore, it is important to train and prepare future and existing personnel to be able to provide service at the proper level and be able to behave correctly in any situation: normal or extreme”, noted Deborah.

“The lesson was productive and very informative. Most importantly, that the students began to delve into the direct work of the Hotel and understand how to behave while on the spot as Front Office employees and how to deal with the staff and hotel issues as a General Manager”, noted the second-year student R.Ulmasova.
