From the 1st to 3rd of May, 2023, “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage will host an international congress on “Gastronomy Tourism for People and Planet: Innovate, Empower and Preserve”.
Well-known professors from Bukhara and Samarkand regions as well as other countries - Turkey, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, India, Portugal and the UAE - will participate in the international congress.
On April 28, 2023, a meeting was organized in the University's Conference hall with the cooperation of the university graduates and the Agency for the development of Public Service under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the procedure for future employment of graduate students to state bodies.
The meeting was attended by the General Inspector General of the Department of Personnel Administration of the Samarkand regional branch of the Agency for the development of Public Service under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Akhatov Foziljon Olimjonovich and graduates of our university.
The Youth Council and Faculty Coordinators of the Youth Union of Uzbekistan was selected at “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.
As it is known, on 4 April 2023 the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and the Central Council of the Youth Union of Uzbekistan adopted a joint resolution “On measures to improve the activities of the primary organizations at higher educational institutions of the Youth Union of Uzbekistan”. The decision sets out a number of tasks for improving the activity of the primary organizations of the Youth Union at higher educational institutions.
A process of conversation was held with the responsible Samarkand Regional Council of the Youth Union of Uzbekistan and the heads of the relevant departments of the university to select the members of the Council of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.
During the organised conversation, worthy candidates were selected and their tasks were analysed.

Fulbright English Language Teaching Assistant Chanel Nasir (Fulbright ETA) and lecturer of “Languages” Department, “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Gulrukh Yusupova participated in the workshop on April 7-8, 2023 in Tashkent Milan Hotel.
The main purpose of the workshop was to provide local English Language Teachers and Teaching Assistants from Fulbright with new ideas and methods to implement in their classes and help them develop their professional skills. The seminar included lectures by highly qualified and experienced American professionals. In addition to training, the teachers exchanged ideas with their colleagues on various topics. The participants of the seminar were awarded certificates.
A delegation of the Republic of Korea led by the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr Kim Hee-Sang, visited “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.
First Vice Rector J.Eltazarov warmly welcomed the distinguished guests. During the meeting, various projects such as increasing the pace of educational cooperation between Korean and Uzbek higher education institutions and working on joint educational programmes and research were promoted. During his speech, Mr Kim Hee-Sang said the areas of cooperation between the two nations are mainly focused on healthcare and education, and that tourism and cultural heritage should be established in line with the times. He noted that Korea and Uzbekistan are mainly aimed at developing cooperation in three directions:

This partnership aims to provide our graduate students with a good opportunity to intern with hospitality professionals and gain experience that will benefit them in their future professions.
On 18 April 2023, Ass.Prof. of History and Cultural Heritage Andjese Fusaro, together with MA students of the Archaeology Department, visited several tepes (artificial mounds) in Jomboy district (north-east of Samarkand), led by Professor Khikmatullah Khoshimov of the Institute of Archaeology, who is a native of the area.
This event was part of the “Research Methodology in Archaeological Sciences” course. The trip was a practical lesson on the activities that should be carried out during research in the field.
In addition, it was an important opportunity to show students how to behave when archaeological materials are discovered and how to preserve cultural heritage and archaeological contexts intact for future generations and future research work.
UNESCO announced the 3rd international competition under the Silk Road program called "Silk Road Youth Research Grant - Strengthening the potential and contribution of young researchers through the Silk Road Initiative". This competition is financed by the National Commission for UNESCO Affairs of the People's Republic of China.
This initiative, which aims to mobilize young researchers for further study of the Silk Roads shared heritage, will award 12 research grants to young women and men under 35 years of age.
Grant applicants are invited to address areas of academic study which relate to the shared heritage and plural identities of the Silk Roads, as well as its internal diversity, and potential in contemporary societies for creativity, intercultural dialogue, social cohesion, regional and international cooperation, and ultimately sustainable peace and development.

On 17 April this year, Agnese Fusaro, Ass.Prof. of History and Cultural Heritage, and MA students of the Archaeology visited a pottery workshop in the tourist village of Konigil in Samarkand, within the course entitled “Pottery Techniques and Archaeometric Analysis”. The MA students were introduced to the traditional production process of pottery making by master potter Mehroj.
This practical session was very useful and helped the students to thoroughly understand the ceramic production process, including the processing of raw materials, forming techniques, decors and coatings used, and workplace requirements.
Master’s students were able to learn about the art of craftsmanship, the selfless labour of the artisan, which continues in its traditional form in Samarkand.
