From January 20 to 25, Dildora Turdieva, a psychologist from the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, offered psychological assistance to citizens in 15 mahallas with high levels of unemployment and poverty in the Pastdargom district of the Samarkand region.

To support the community, motivational training sessions were conducted, along with individual discussions with women facing mental health challenges. As a result, psycho-correctional work was carried out, utilizing psychological methods designed to enhance individuals' confidence in their strengths and capabilities.

An essay contest was organized among the students and youth of the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage on the topic of the state of Indonesia. It was announced that the best essay authors would be awarded a two-week trip to Indonesia. About 30 essays in English, Russian, and Uzbek languages were submitted to the commission members by the university students on this topic. 

On January 24, the members of the commission who were responsible for the essay contest held individual interviews with the applicants. The essays were first evaluated based on their content, and the students' knowledge in their field of study was also tested. Based on the commission's conclusion, 10 winners were selected for the trip to Indonesia.

Dear professors, researchers, and students!

We invite you to the scientific seminar on the topic "Tourism Development Strategies in the Samarkand Region," which will take place on January 27, 2025, from 15:30 to 16:30 in Lecture Hall 229. This event is organized by the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation,  Professor Tony Zou.

The seminar will feature the participation of the Deputy Governor of the Samarkand region, Rustam Qobilov, who will provide detailed information on the strategic initiatives being implemented, available opportunities, and future plans for the development of the tourism sector in the region. This meeting will serve as an important platform for discussing pressing issues in the field of tourism, exchanging scientific and practical experiences, and exploring innovative approaches in the sector.

Оur university proudly launched the 2025 Lecture Hall for Tourism and Culture Leaders with an inspiring seminar featuring PhD student Yang Jie (Megan). 

As a former project leader of China Youth Travel Service Group, one of the top 3 travel services in China, Yang Jie delivered a speech titled: 

“Tourism Destination Operation & Management—A Case Study of China Monkey King Theme Park.”

Her presentation provided an in-depth look at the process of tourism destination investment and development, covering: 

- Strategic planning 

- Physical design 

- Facility construction 

- IP resource integration 

- Project operation and management 

The seminar generated enthusiastic responses from the audience, helping tourism management master's students and faculty gain valuable insights into theme park operation and management. 

The event was moderated by Professor Tongqian Zou, Vice Rector of Silk Road University. 

The Lecture Hall for Tourism and Culture Leaders continues to invite global industry leaders, officials, and scholars to share cutting-edge practices and theories in tourism and culture.

On January 22, 2025, the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, together with the Council of the Youth Union of Uzbekistan’s primary organization, organized the “Zakovat Quiz” intellectual game on the topic of Garry Potter to test the knowledge and intellectual potential of the university's students.

18 teams made up of our university’s students participated in the intellectual game.

In general, the participation of students in such quizzes is of great importance not only in enhancing their potential but also in boosting their thinking, teamwork abilities, and broadening their worldview.

At the end of the game:

1st place – "Head of Hogwarts"

2nd place – "Back to Hogwarts"

3rd place – "The Team That Must Not Be Named" teams won the prizes.

On January 20th, 2025,’’Silk Road’’ International University of tourism and cultural heritage had the honor of hosting Associate Professor Atabek Alimov, Vice-Rector for Research of the Karakalpak Institute of Agriculture and Agro-Technologies. He delivered an insightful lecture titled: 

"Development of Tourism Around the Aral Sea: A Path to Sustainable Progress."

This was part of the Lecture Hall for Tourism and Culture Leaders series. Dr. Alimov, a renowned expert in Aral Sea studies, shared the historical evolution of the Aral Sea and outlined innovative strategies for sustainable tourism development in the region. 

The seminar was moderated by Vice-Rector Professor Tongqian Zou and attended by our tourism management master's students, who actively participated in the discussion. 

Following the lecture, Dr. Alimov and Vice-Rector Zou explored opportunities for future research collaboration between our universities.

The Tourism Committee under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, in order to support youth initiatives in the fields of tourism and cultural heritage, announces a competition for startup projects in areas such as:

- industry;

- science and education;

- energy efficiency;

- tourism and cultural heritage;

- ecology and environment;

- socio-economic.

The competition is open to university students, masters, and research scholars. The submitted startup projects should fall into one of the following categories:

- “Socially significant innovations”;

- “Best innovative project”;

- “Perspective development”.

Startup projects are evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • compliance of the startup project topic with the priority areas of development of science and technology of the country;
  • novelty and relevance of the startup project;
  • thorough development of the calendar work plan for the implementation of the startup project submitted by the candidate;
  • number of jobs to be created;
  • advantage over competitors in the same direction;
  • target audience, targeting in the relevant product/service market;
  • justification of the costs required for the implementation of the startup.

The winners will be determined, and will receive a cash prize 1 553 640 sum for the 1st place, 1 035 760 sum for the 2nd place, and 517 880 sum for the 3rd place.

Deadline: You can send startup projects to the indicated e-mail or telegram address until March 3, 2025.

Note: Startup projects that do not meet the relevant requirements and are submitted late will not be accepted for the competition and will not be returned to the author.

Travel across Uzbekistan!

As part of the "Travel across Uzbekistan" project, a "Winter Camp" was organized at the International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage "Silk Road." As part of the project, a practical trip was organized for a group of students from the university, covering the city of Samarkand. During the trip, students visited the Bukhara City complex, Konigil Tourism Village, and the Afrasiab Museum, located in the tourism center of Samarkand, strengthening their knowledge in the field of tourism.

On January 21, 2025, the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage welcomed a delegation from Japan's leading travel company, Nippon Travel Agency (NTA). The delegation was headed by Naoki Baba, General Vice Manager of the Business Strategy and Innovation Department.

For information: Nippon Travel Agency (NTA) is one of Japan's largest and oldest travel companies, founded in 1905. The company is highly recognized in both international and domestic tourism markets. NTA provides a wide range of services, including travel planning, transportation, accommodation, and organizing excursions.

During the meeting, Nippon Travel Agency offered special internship and job opportunities for university students who are proficient in Japanese and interested in the tourism industry. This initiative aims to not only support young professionals but also create excellent opportunities for them to gain international experience.

Furthermore, as part of the visit, a cooperation agreement was signed between the university and Nippon Travel Agency. This agreement is designed to strengthen mutually beneficial relations, implement joint projects, and create new opportunities in personnel training.

In the social and economically difficult border and remote areas of Samarkand region, on January 20, 2025, a psychological seminar-training was conducted by psychologist Dildora Turdieva from the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage for the residents of the "Bahor," "Bog‘ishamol," and "Uchtepa" neighborhoods in Pastdarg‘om district.

The aim was to carry out preventive work among some citizens who have fallen into a state of "dependency" and to provide psychological support and motivation to the residents of these neighborhoods. Psychological methods were used to enhance patriotism, gratitude, and self-confidence.
