On February 13th of this year, a delegation from Tsukuba University, led by Dr. Naohiro Higuchi and Kuanish Tastenbekova, along with five master's and doctoral students, visited the Tashkent Tourism and Hospitality Management College. Their purpose was to familiarize themselves with the education system of Uzbekistan, modernization reforms, and innovative teaching methods.

The guests learned about the college’s activities, the professions and areas of study offered, and the educational processes. Both sides agreed to explore opportunities for future collaboration.

At the ongoing 9th Winter Asian Games in Harbin, China, the Uzbekistan national team achieved another success.

After a 26-year break, the Uzbekistan delegation won a gold medal at the Winter Asian Games. This victory was brought by the students of the Uzbekistan State University of Physical Education and Sports – Dmitriy Chigirev and Yekaterina Geynish, members of the figure skating team.

Our athletes scored 176.43 points, recording the highest result of the competition and becoming the champions of the Winter Asian Games.

HONOURING OUR GREAT ANCESTORS

The Department of "Languages and Global Studies" in cooperation with the tutors held a spiritual and educational event, dedicated to the 584th anniversary of the founder of the Uzbek literary language, poet, scientist, educator, philosopher, musicologist, statesman Nizamiddin Mir Alisher Navoi and the 542nd anniversary of the outstanding representative of Uzbek classical literature, ruler and poet Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur on February 13, 2025 at "Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.

Undoubtedly, today the legacy of Alisher Navoi and Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur plays an important role in the development of tourism and cultural heritage. Their works and heritage are being studied by many scholars of the world, which further increases the interest in the land where they lived. This creates great opportunities to promote the cultural values of our people around the world and develop tourism.

During the event, students read excerpts from the ghazals of our great ancestors in Uzbek, English, German, Japanese, Russian, French and Spanish, honoring their memory. Stage performances, rhythmic dances, musical pieces and songs, as well as presentations on the works of Navoi and Babur gave the event a special atmosphere. At the end of the event, the students were awarded with the certificates of honour and memorable gifts.

On February 17 of this year, the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage will host a scientific seminar for university professors, researchers, and students. The seminar will be organized under the initiative of the university’s Vice-Rector for Scientific Research and Innovation, Tongqian Zou, who has invited Mels Kosnazarov, Director of the NGO "Destination Management Organization (DMO) Karakalpakstan" (GIZ).

At the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, Mr. David Ding, the CEO of the "Silk Road by Minyoun" , gave a lecture to students on the development of the "Silk Road" Tourism Center in Samarkand and shared very important industry-related information. 

Mr. David Ding emphasized the harmony between Uzbek history and modern amenities at the Samarkand Tourism Center, which aims to attract international tourists. Students discussed topics with the CEO such as the return on investment, payback period, break-even point, and future development plans. 

The seminar was conducted by Tongqian Zou, the Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation at our university. During the lecture, our university’s master's and doctoral students actively participated in the discussion on tourism development issues in Samarkand.

Today, on February 12th, a roundtable discussion was held for the students of the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage within the framework of the "Fight against Drug Addiction" month. During the "Awareness Hour," the topics "We are against drug addiction" and "Awareness is the need of the time" were discussed, highlighting the consequences of drug addiction and the importance of students and young people being aware when using social networks.

Today, on February 11, at the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, as part of the Hour of Awareness classes, a series of discussions were held for students of groups TH-124 and Mar-124. The discussions focused on the need for awareness in social life and when using mobile networks in this fast-developing era. The students also shared their opinions on this topic and received answers to the questions that interested them.
