On January 27, 2025, “Silk Road” International University of tourism and cultural heritage invited Mr. Rustam Kobilov, Vice Governor of Samarkand Region to talk about tourism development in Samarkand on the Lecture Hall for Tourism and Culture Leaders. Vice Governor delivered an insightful speech titled: "Tourism Development Strategies of Samarkand Region."
Mr. Rustam Kobilov analyzed the potential of Samarkand’s tourism industry. As one of the most beautiful and mysterious cities in Uzbekistan and crossroad of the Great Silk Road with more than 1500 architectural monuments, which makes Samarkand a popular destination to develop cultural tourism, gastronomic tourism, mice tourism and eco tourism.
About the future development of Samarkand, Mr. Rustam Kobilov emphasized that the government now is making great effort to make Samarkand a better tourist destination. For example, the construction of the “SILK ROAD SAMARKAND” touristic center, Samarkand international airport, Samarkand city tour bus and tourist villages. Besides, Samarkand has hosted several major international events in recent 3 years. And Samarkand is trying to attract more tourists from Russia, China, Japan, Indonesia and Iran by opening more flight routes.
The seminar was moderated by Vice-Rector of science and innovation Tongqian Zou, MA and PhD students of our university attended this seminar, and actively participated in the discussion about the tourism development strategy of Samarkand Region.
On February 3, 2025, the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage hosted its fourth Lecture Hall for Tourism and Culture Leaders. The event featured Mr. Tazabay Uteuliev, CEO of Aral Sea Discovery, as the keynote speaker. He focused on sustainable tourism in Karakalpakstan. Mr. Uteuliev highlighted the devastating impact of Soviet irrigation projects on the Aral Sea ecosystem, which led to its severe shrinkage. He particularly emphasized the ecological transformations in Muynak and Sudochye Lake. CEO Uteuliev introduced the tourism development history and the growth story of his company-Aral Sea Discovery which business focuses on Aral Sea tourism.
The seminar was moderated by Vice Rector of science and innovation Tongqian Zou. All participants interacted actively to discuss about the future development of tourism and ecological restoration in the Aral Sea. This seminar helps us to understand the century disaster of ecology in Central Asia, and provides a good platform for further cooperation between our university and the tourism companies in Karakalpakstan.

Today, on February 7, psychologist of the International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage “Silk Road” Dildora Turdieva organised a motivational training “Goodbye, stress!”.
The interesting event told about the positive and negative sides of stress, which has become an integral part of modern man’s life, and ways to get rid of it. Various psychodiagnostic techniques, relaxation exercises became an excellent means of relieving inner tension, bringing mental balance and calmness. During the training, role-playing and mobile games organised to improve relationships in the group, to create a healthy competitive environment in the group, gave a positive mood to all participants.
Labour productivity depends primarily on the emotional state of a person. Mental well-being leads a person to a happy, healthy and successful life. This was the purpose of the motivational training conducted by Dildora Turdieva.
On February 6 of this year, a seminar-training was held at our university for entrepreneurs operating in the tourism sector in the Jizzakh region. The event was led by Azizbek Nuridillaevich Egamberdiev, Deputy Head of the Jizzakh Regional Tourism Department. During the seminar, the guests had the opportunity to meet with our university's Vice-Rector of science and innovation Professor Tongqian Zou, and engaged in a close conversation.
At the meeting, Prof. T. Zou shared his scientific and practical recommendations in the field of tourism. The discussion also covered promoting the tourism potential of the Jizzakh region in China, as well as establishing collaborative ties between entrepreneurs and Chinese tourism companies.
The seminar-training sessions, along with the practical recommendations, discussions, and the opportunity to get acquainted with the university's activities, proved to be an important step for the Jizzakh entrepreneurs.
At the end of the seminar-training, the guests expressed their gratitude to the organizers and moderators for arranging the event and sharing their recommendations.
In accordance with the order No. 428 of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, dated November 11, 2024, a regional stage of the essay competition was organized among students on the themes "The Courage of Jadids – The Pride of Our Nation" and "Jadids: Ideas of Nationalism, Identity, Independence, and Statehood." The second-year student of the “Guides and Translation” program, Group Gid-123, from the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage S. Barisova, participated in this competition.
In her essay, our student outlined the life path of the Jadids and the new ideas they promoted. We wish her success in being recognized among the winners of the competition

"Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage successfully participated in the "First Malaysia-Uzbekistan Higher Education Forum and Exhibition" held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This prestigious event was organized to strengthen academic cooperation between universities in Malaysia and Uzbekistan, develop student exchange programs, and enhance collaboration in the field of higher education.
During the forum, our university’s delegation held meetings with representatives of leading Malaysian universities to discuss joint educational programs, research projects, and academic mobility opportunities for students. Additionally, at the exhibition, our university showcased its educational programs, international cooperation projects, and student opportunities.
These include:
- Cooperation with the University of Technology Malaysia in the use of modern technologies in the development of the tourism industry;
- Cooperation between the University of Science and Technology Malaysia (USIM) and the Silk Road International Research Institute under the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage on a project to restore and conserve cultural heritage sites in Uzbekistan, create electronic forms of newly studied historical artifacts, model them and create 3D photographs;
- Establishment of an exchange program for undergraduate and graduate students with the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Malaya.
Also, this forum served as an important platform for advancing Uzbekistan-Malaysia academic relations, introducing innovative educational approaches, and fostering new strategic partnerships in the international education arena.

Today, on February 5, events were organized at the "Silk Road" International Tourism and Cultural Heritage University on the topic "We Youth are Against Drug Addiction."
In particular, a drawing contest was held on this topic with the participation of talented university students. Additionally, within the framework of the "Anti-Drug Month," a promotional event was organized on the topic "We Youth are Against Drug Addiction."
At the event, employees of the Drug Control Department of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Samarkand Regional Internal Affairs Directorate, R.S. Qobilov and M.Q. Ahmedov, provided detailed information to the university students about the fight against drug addiction and its negative consequences, with a presentation on the topic "Drug Addiction and AIDS – The Plague of the Century." During the meeting, students had the opportunity to ask questions and get answers.
On February 4th, today, professional chefs from the world-famous "Le Cordon Bleu Paris" International Culinary Academy held a special masterclass at the Samarkand UNWTO Tourism Academy. The masterclass is led by Erich Ruppen, the Technical Director and culinary specialist of the Le Cordon Bleu Istanbul Academy, a seasoned Swiss chef.The event was attended by head chefs and their assistants from cafes, restaurants, and hotels in Samarkand that focus on gastronomic tourism, as well as students from the Samarkand Tourism and Cultural Heritage Technical College. Naturally, the process of preparing various dishes by specialists visiting from France was very interesting all industry
professionals. Throughout the masterclass, information about the dish preparation processes was shared.
For reference, to date, 54 citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan have studied at the "Le Cordon Bleu Paris" school in France and are actively working in the culinary field in various regions of the republic.
During the official visit of our esteemed President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Malaysia, in the Perak state, at the "Sustainable Development Goals in Higher Education: Opportunities and Initiatives" themed forum, our university representatives are promoting the tourism potential of Samarkand, the conditions created for foreign and local students at our university, and practical work in training qualified specialists for the tourism sector. Importantly, forum participants are getting acquainted with the activities of our university, and interest in it is growing.
For your information, within the framework of this forum, agreements are expected to be reached on the implementation of joint projects in the fields of education and science, and cooperation agreements between the universities of the two countries are also expected to be signed.
