A video about the visit of Megawati Soekarnoputri, the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia, to our university on 21 September.

The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Paris (France) hosted an event with the participation of representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organisations. At the event, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to France N. Ganiev and Chairman of the Committee on Tourism under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change U. Shadiev spoke about the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan and the wide opportunities created in the field of tourism.

In order to ensure the implementation of the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 15 March 2024 ‘On measures to prepare the 43rd session of the General Conference of UNESCO in 2025 in the city of Samarkand’, the head of the international cooperation department of our university S. Samaridinov told about three thousand years of history, rich cultural heritage, values of the city of Samarkand and activities of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, UNWTO Academy of Tourism, established at the university, provided the necessary information by making a presentation.

On 19-22 September of this year, members of the delegation headed by the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri visited Samarkand. 

On 21 September, the guests visited “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change and Rector of the university A. Abdukhakimov welcomed the members of the delegation. First of all, the guests familiarised with the modern conditions and examples of cultural heritage created for students on the campus. Then, a dialogue was held between the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri, and the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, A. Abdukhakimov, in which they exchanged views on further improvement of practical work on bilateral cooperation. After that, the main part of the event was the ceremony of awarding diplomas to 45 foreign and 74 local students who graduated from the master’s program of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. At the same time, Rector of the university Aziz Abdukhakimov ceremonially handed over the diploma of “Honorary Professor” of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage to the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri in recognition of high results in the development of tourism and preservation of cultural heritage.     

Megawati Soekarnoputri and Aziz Abdukhakimov opened the “Sukarno Park” in the yard of the university in recognition of the 1st President of Indonesia Sukarno’s great contribution to the development of religious and cultural tourism in Uzbekistan.

In the second half of the day, the guests got acquainted with the activities of International Tourism Academy established in cooperation with UN Tourism and more  than 200 books were donated to the Academy by Megawati Soekarnoputri.

On September 17 of this year, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting at the International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage “Silk Road” to ensure the participation of student volunteers in the annual meeting of the “Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB)”, which will be held on September 25-26 of this year in the city of Samarkand.

               The meeting was attended by the heads of Samarkand State University, Samarkand Institute of Foreign Languages, Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service . At the important meeting, officials emphasized the important role of volunteers in the high-quality and effective conduct of this major event and gave necessary recommendations to the participants.

In order to ensure the implementation of the decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated March 15, 2024, regarding the preparation for the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference to be held in Samarkand in 2025, department heads S. Samariddinov and A. Sultonov from the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage are participating in the IFTM Top Resa international tourism exhibition taking place in France.

This exhibition has been held regularly since 1978. This year, over 30,000 participants have attended the exhibition.

A section for the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage has been established in the Uzbekistan pavilion, where extensive promotion of the university's activities, grant programs for foreign students, and the upcoming UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand has been organized.

"Aziz Qahramonovich To‘xtamishov, head of the department at the 'Silk Road' International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, has obtained a PhD in the field of economics."

On September 14, 2024, China's National Philosophy and Social Sciences Planning Office announced that Professor Zou Tongqian, Vice Rector of Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, has been approved for a key project funded by the National Social Science Fund of China. To date, Professor Zou has received a main project, a key project, and a general project from the China Social Science Fund, as well as a general project from the China Natural Science Fund. The National Social Science Fund and the National Natural Science Fund are the highest scientific funding bodies in China for social sciences and natural sciences, respectively.

The newly approved project is titled “Research on the Operational Mechanism and Governance of the Tourism Internet Celebrity Economy in the Era of Omni-media.” This project aims to explore the unique dynamics of the tourism internet celebrity economy and its impact on tourism development in China. The research will offer valuable insights into the management and marketing of tourism destinations that have gained prominence through online platforms and social media. By examining the evolving dynamics of the internet celebrity economy, the project seeks to provide practical strategies for public governance and the sustainable development of internet celebrity tourism destinations.

Professor Zou’s research continues to position him at the forefront of China's burgeoning tourism industry, providing critical analysis that supports policymakers and tourism stakeholders. The findings will also contribute to theoretical research in the field of tourism worldwide.
