On 30 January of this year, a round table was held to meaningfully organise the free time of students of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage after classes and to promote the culture of reading among young people within the framework of the “Book Club” project.

At the roundtable meeting, valuable comments were made on the role and importance of books in the lives of young people. Also at the event they told about the essence of the novel “Between Two Doors” by the famous writer Utkir Hoshimov, the existing realities of the work. Particular mention was made of the artistic images of this novel, which, among others, conveyed to the Uzbek people the Second World War, the danger of war to humanity, the grave consequences it brought to our people, and the motivations of our compatriots.

Process

         From 29 January to 2 February of this year, the winter final examinations for the 2023-2024 academic year are being held at “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage". The examination processes are conducted by the lecturers of the departments of Languages and Tourism Management, History and Cultural Heritage in their subjects. These processes, which take place in oral, written and test forms, once again test the knowledge of the student youth. The thirst for knowledge is much higher among students, so their preparation for exams is more satisfactory," says German language teacher Zahid Bektimrov.

ANNOUNCEMENT

On 13 February, at 15:00, in room 108 of the university, a seminar on the topic “Avoiding plagiarism” will be organised by the lecturer of the department of “Languages” Yakubova Madina Kutfidinovna and the department of scientific research of our university.          The academic level of each higher education institution is determined by the achievements of teachers working in the team, in science, articles in prestigious journals, titles in science. From this point of view, the scientific potential of the teaching community of our university is growing day by day. The next good news Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the recommendation of the Council of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage approved the scientific title of Associate Professor Nargiza Shamsidinovna Mansurova Nargiza Mansurova, Head of Scientific Research Department, on the speciality “Demography. Labor Economics”.

         The staff of our university also wishes Nargiza Shamsidinovna great successes on the way of development of scientific sphere and the continuation of such achievements.

        

         On 25 January of this year the 1st meeting of the Senate of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage was held. The meeting was headed by the first vice-rector of the university J.Eltazarov. At first, the information of J.Eltazarov was heard that the first issue on the agenda of the meeting was the implementation of directive documents of the Presidential Administration, Cabinet of Ministers, Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and administration of the region in our university. It was noted that during the past year all practical work was carried out with the establishment of appropriate measures to ensure the fulfilment of the decrees and resolutions adopted by our President for the further development of tourism, education, science spheres. Besides, the tasks set in the directives of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and the regional administration have also been done on time.

         After that, the second issue on the agenda was the approval of the work plan of the university for 2024, the head of the protocol secretariat department of the university A.Izbasarova provided information.

The third issue of the agenda was the making of changes and approval of the members of the University Senate, according to which a worthy candidate was unanimously admitted to its membership.

         The report of N.Mansurova, Head of the Department of Scientific Research of the University, “On the approval of scientific supervisors and thesis topics of the main doctoral students and independent researchers” together with its approval by the members of the Senate caused heated discussions, reasonable remarks were made about reconsideration of some scientific supervisors and thesis topics. One more question of the agenda - about recommendation of a group of professors and teachers of our university for the position of senior lecturer, the information of the head of department T.Sultanov was heard, and also full information was given by candidates about their contribution to the sphere of education, science. The last issue of the agenda was “Approval of the job descriptions of the faculty and staff”, the information of the Head of the Department of Human Resources (HR) A.Kholboev was heard.

         All agenda items of the 1st meeting of the Senate of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage were approved after heated discussions. The Vice-Rector of the University, Prof Tony Zou, the representatives of the Senate A.Tokhtamishev, N.Mansurova, S.Matlabov and others expressed their opinions on the agenda points.

Today, on January 26, the competition “Masters of Future Tourism” organised jointly with Samarkand Regional Department of Tourism and “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage took place in the assembly hall of our university.

Groups consisting of students of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service, Samarkand Institute of Agro-innovation and Samarkand Technical School of Tourism and Cultural Heritage took part in the competition.

In the first stage of the competition, the teams made presentations of new start-up projects aimed at further development of the tourism industry. In this competition, the team of Shakhrukh Khaitboyev, a student of our university, focused on getting interested by presenting theatrical performances on various interesting topics in English, while the team of Shakhriyar Sharipov, an independent researcher, made a presentation on organising cinemas in open-air places of interest to tourists.

After that, at the second stage, the participants tried to demonstrate their talent in preparing tasty salads from vegetables of different shapes for foreign guests. At the end of each stage, the judges evaluated the teams. According to the points scored, the team “Silk Road” of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage took the 1st place with the highest number of points, the team of Samarkand Technical School of Tourism and Cultural Heritage “Tour Star” - 2nd place, and the team “Samariya” of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage - 3rd place.

The winners received valuable and memorable gifts from the organisers.

On 25 January of this year, partners from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, visited Margilan Technical School of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. During the visit it was agreed that the students of Margilan Technical School of Tourism and Cultural Heritage will be able to do their internship in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. After that, the students of the technical school were sorted on the basis of an interview. Based on the results of the interview conducted by the partners, 7 students were interviewed and given the opportunity to do an internship in Jeddah. We congratulate these students for their success.

On 23 January of this year, the China-Uzbekistan Forum on Cooperation in Higher Education was held in Tiankai Higher Education Science and Innovation Park in Tianjin, China. The forum participants - representatives of universities of the two countries - heard the welcoming speech of Liu Yiman, Deputy Secretary of the Tianjin Education Working Committee, and Inomjon Majidov, Rector of the National University of Uzbekistan. On the host side, the Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology and the Cultural Tourism Bureau presented their reports. Importantly, rectors of universities in Uzbekistan also made presentations on educational co-operation.

The final part of the event included a ceremony of signing memorandums of co-operation between higher education institutions of Uzbekistan and China, as well as a joint performance of Chinese and Uzbek students.

On the initiative of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on the territory of the Second Beijing University of Foreign Languages on 22 January of this year in Beijing (PRC) was held the Uzbek-Chinese forum of hundred universities with the participation of 37 educational institutions of Uzbekistan and 110 universities of China. Representatives of relevant ministries and embassies of the two countries, as well as representatives of educational institutions spoke at the plenary session. Within the framework of the forum, the “Beijing Declaration on Cooperation between Higher Education Institutions of Uzbekistan and China” was announced.

Vice-Rector Professor Tony Zou of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage made a presentation at the humanities section. In the final part of the forum, a ceremony of collective signing of memorandums of cooperation between educational institutions of PRC and Uzbekistan was organised.

It is known that certification and state accreditation of all state and non-state educational organizations in our country are approved by Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated June 7, 2019 No. 470. It is carried out on the basis of the “Criteria for certification of educational organizations.”

In accordance with the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Education”, this Regulation applies to scientific and educational organizations of the Republic of Uzbekistan that provide preschool, general secondary, secondary special, vocational, out-of-school, higher, and postgraduate education. Regardless of departmental affiliation and organizational and legal forms, it determines the procedure for certification and state accreditation of state educational institutions and non-state educational organizations in order to improve the skills of personnel and their retraining.

Certification comes from the Latin word attestātio - “to testify”, “to confirm”, and today it is the main form of state control when assessing the activities of an educational organization; it consists in determining the compliance of the content, level and quality of personnel training in educational organizations in compliance with state educational standards and state educational requirements and curricula.

Accreditation comes from the Latin words accredo - “to believe”, “to trust”, it is state recognition of the compliance of the activities of educational institutions with state educational standards, and also gives the right to provide its graduates with information and approved documents.

According to this Regulation, “newly created educational organizations are considered accredited for a period of 5 years from the date of their creation.” It is indicated that “educational organizations must be accredited after the expiration of the specified periods.” Accordingly, on September 22, 2022, under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Department of  “Quality Assurance for Education and Accreditation” for the purpose of certification and state accreditation of our university, in connection with the 5th anniversary of the creation of our university, an application was submitted to the state inspectorate for quality control of education inclusion of the university in the plan for certification of universities of the republic for 2023. In accordance with this application, on the basis of the order of the head of the State Inspectorate for Quality Control of Education under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated October 27, 2022 No. 306 “On the organization of certification and state accreditation of educational organizations,” our university is included in the republican plan for external assessment in 2023. Based on this order, an order for the university dated November 9, 2022 No. 264 was prepared and an internal assessment was carried out, based on the order of the working group, based on a comprehensive analysis of the university’s activities over the last two years in undergraduate and graduate areas. The shortcomings identified during the internal assessment were eliminated on the spot by a working group; based on the results of the internal assessment, a report was prepared and submitted to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Based on the order No. 97 of the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated April 17, 2023 “On the external assessment of educational organizations,” an external assessment of the activities of our university is planned. May 22-31, 2023. The procedure for conducting external assessment was approved by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation by Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated June 7, 2019 No. 470 “On the procedure for certification and state accreditation of state educational institutions.” and non-state educational organizations”, based on the “Criteria for Certification of Educational Organizations”, developed in accordance with the regulations and paragraph 9 of these regulations.

Based on the order of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated November 7, 2023 No. 492 “On conducting tests on the level (knowledge) of students’ mastery of scientific programs,” tests were conducted on November 20–21, 2023 to determine the level (knowledge).

According to the conclusion of the external evaluation commission, the total number of undergraduate and graduate courses included in the external evaluation and received a positive assessment was 78%, and “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage was recognized as “Certified.”

The conclusion of the external assessment of “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, presented by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, was considered by the Senate of the university. The university administration also developed a Road Map”.
